baron-pierreIV Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 Of course, an Opening Ceremony beside the ancient grounds of olde Olympia -- on the grounds of the Int'l Olympic Academy. I like the use of the simple tent and its open in the back with the vegetation as a simple background. 1 Quote

Bear Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 Anyone planning to live-chat here during the Presidential Election? Would be fun I think. Quote

Yes I love this Ceremony and the setting, the live performances of the Olympic Hymn and the Greece Narional Anthem in the cradle, the birthplace of the Olympic Games. Then this very large group of IOC Members, media and staff all travel to Costa Navarino, 100 kms to the south, for the actual 144th IOC Session itself. Quote
AustralianFan Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 Very stirring cultural performances and music too. Loved the rythmic beat of the band of drummers and the energy of the large group of dancers from the Art Dance Theatre - echoes of the Athens 2004 Opening Ceremony. Quote

But maybe it’ll start a trend. Can’t wait for the OC to the next Tesla AGM Quote

Can’t wait for the OC to the next Tesla AGM No; at least for the last 2 decades, the IOC Sessions start/open with some sort of "Opening Ceremony" -- usually vocal, choral and dance numbers. And it's the Host Committee that sets those up -- NOT the IOC. But no worries, no drones or fireworks yet. 🤩 I don't think they even had food or refreshments for that session. Btw, it occured to me that the place where they're holding the main body of the Session, at the resort in Costa Navarino (and I still have to do a little more research) might be close to where the 1961 movie GUNS OF NAVARONE is set. The election itself will be in-camera (I.e. not broadcasted with no media in the room). Not sure there will be much material to feed a chat. Quote

Navarino - Navarone!! Meh, still think it’s overkill. It’d be more fitting if they dug up Baron PdC’s heart each time and each took a bite out of it… or maybe that should be the initiation ceremony for each new president… Quote

Not sure there will be much material to feed a chat. Correct but then after the election, it will be broadcast to the world on the IOC Media Youtube Channel. We can chat (if I’m awake) during the closed door election as well as once we know the result and the IOC Media Youtube Channel resumes broadcasting post-election and the press conference. The election platforms for each candidate vary considerably. Not sure re Presidential election candidates but for winning Olympic Games Host Elections they announce the number of Yes votes, No votes and Abstensions. I’d love to know the winning margin and the number of votes for each candidate. Quote
