baron-pierreIV Posted January 10, 2025 Report Posted January 10, 2025 (edited) While luckily, no projected venues for use in LA28 have been burned or damaged by the fires, will the larger misfortune curtail Wasserman's ridiculous 35-sport programme? I hope so. And, of course, all SoCal also has to be ready for any major earthquakes. That might cause some of the older venues to be put at risk. (I hope UCLA too comes through the fires unscathed.) And who was the idiot here who was saying that Oh, you can't factor in natural events like earthquakes and fires in selecting your Olympic host cities. It is . . . inhuman, unfair -- and some other sort of phoney garbage like that! HELLO, Mr. Phoney-Heart!! Look what's happened to the next Summer Olympic host city!! 🤪 I hope all of LA County and surrounding can get their water -- and fire hydrant system upgraded in time for 2028 . . . altho that might be a bit of a stretch. The fires did not damage or destroy a single Olympic venue. LA also has an abundance of venues to shift to if necessary. No amount of water and high powered hydrants were going to stop fires fanned by 100mph winds. LA is not the only Olympic host city in a seismically active area. Tokyo, Mexico City, hell even Athens. Can it happen? Of course. It's guaranteed we just never know when. Quote
