arwebb
The great Yorkshire and England fast bowler was laid to rest in his native county today at Bolton Abbey. The rector had it right. We lost something far more important than a football match on Saturday, as much as that still pisses me off. We lost one of our very greatest sporting heroes. I'm too young to have seen Trueman bowl, but you only have to look at his record to see how great he was. The first man ever to take 300 Test match wickets (and he could have taken an awful lot more). And he kept pounding in year after year for Yorkshire. Simply a legend. I can only assume God needed a new ball bowler. God bless you, Fred. Final farewells to hero Trueman
