baron-pierreIV Posted November 3, 2024 Report Posted November 3, 2024 (edited) As I suspected, volleyball legend Karch Kiraly who's coached the US women's team the last 12 years, has now been moved to the US men's team -- to guide his former team to hopefully a repeat gold medal performance in LA for 2028 -- just as he did when he was a player for the US men and his team won the first of its two gold medals (at Long Beach) in 1984. And then, when Beach V-ball was added to the roster in Atlanta, KK also won the first men's gold there! Such a remarkable career (in the sport I love)!! Karch Kiraly to Coach U.S. Men’s National Team - USA Volleyball I have also nominated him to be a final 2028 Cauldron Lighter alongside Joan Benoit Samuelson -- due to his 3 gold medals / three LA Games. (I believe he was an assistant US men's coach when they also won the gold in Beijing in 2008; and he guided the US women, under his tutelege, to a World Championship, 3 VNL golds, one Oly bronze (2016); their first Oly gold (Tokyo 2020); and their 2nd/3rd(?) silver in Paris'24.)
