sebastien1214 Posted September 6, 2024 Report Posted September 6, 2024 You are really very optimistic. (to think that the Amazon rainforest will still exist in 2048) Quote
baron-pierreIV Posted September 6, 2024 Report Posted September 6, 2024 Oooooooooooh! You want to IMPOSE events with LARGE carbon footprints on an amazon rainforest; involving hundreds of thousands of people? I don't think that tells a very relevant and compelling story for the mid-21st century. And Antartica will NEVER be counted as a "continent" because unlike . . . say, Manaus, there is NO huge human settlement there (what? 80-90 scientists max?) for the IOC or its sponsors to bother with?? FYI Posted September 6, 2024 Report Posted September 6, 2024 Metropolitan population-wise, Manaus isn't even in Brazil's top-ten. Even Brisbane is larger! Plus, Manaus is so remote nestled deep in the Amazon. If Brazil is to host another Olympics, it's going/has to be Sao Paulo. And if we're talking South America as a whole, then it's Buenos Aires! Even Lima would be a better alternative than provincial Manaus. Quote
