So the summer  Olympics are safe until 2032, but its sad how that the Olympics have yet to be held in Africa.  Even a multi country approach just to host the games.  Why doesn't the IOC try to  se up a committee to look at the games going to Africa?  Morocco will become the second African country to host a FIFA football world cup after South Africa in 2010.  Ghana has been named as host of the next African Athletics Championship in 2026.  Its time for the IOC to look at hosting the games in Africa.  Or maybe the IOC doesn't  want to see another Athens 2004 or a Rio 2016?

Why do they need to do that? There's less than a handful of countries in Africa that could even dream of hosting the Olympics anyway. There doesn't need to be an in-depth committee formed only to come up with the obvious.

Morocco is CO-hosting a WC with two other countries (well, multiple countries if you include the token matches in South America). So it's really not the same feat that South Africa did for the 2010 WC.

When the IOC feels comfortable enough to make the move into Africa, they'll do it. Of course, there needs to be a viable & reliable bid ITFP for them to want to make that move, though.

The Olympics in Africa pop up here from time to time but nothing has changed. The IOC has ZERO interest in going to a third world country so all of Africa is out. I know Morocco was brought up because they are co-hosting the WC but that event is a far cry from the logistics and investment required for an Olympics. The only way it might work would be for a country like Morocco to a host a country-wide Olympics as there's no city capable of handling the event on its own. Even then it would require extensive investments in infrastructure especially transportation.

I wouldn't put too much stock into Dakar and the YOGs. If anything, Dakar's preparations have shown the limits of an African country hosting let alone the big version. I've said before that the reason we still have the YOGs is for cities and countries who cannot host the Olympics on their own. The YOGs fits the likes of places in Africa perfectly.

Unless you want Egypt, right now there's no realistic bid, especially coming to the current issues South Africa is facing right now.

Egypt would be a security nightmare with ISIS operating freely in the Sinai and western part of the country near the Libya border.

The 2026 summer youth Olympics in Dakar, Senegal will probably be a test for Africa’s ability to host the games

Plus, they do have the quadrennial African Games (with 50+ nations participating) -- with its usual share of problems, funding and glitches.  So, that really is the "big test event."  (Also, World Cup in RSA 2010 was on the same scale.)  The problem is, it has to "look, feel and happen at the right time" for the continent.

Then no African country can, unless South Africa resolves years of cronysm in this current government.
