These F***ing spammers

I’m trying to keep up with them and delete them as fast as I see them, but I’ve never seen such a concentrated swarm of them like this. And I can’t be on constantly - I do have a life away from the keyboard. Patience everyone if they don’t get banned and deleted as quick as we’d all like.

If I’m not on, report them. DO NOT post in their threads or do anything else. Unless you want a Temu voucher - they seem to be getting more generous each wave - $30 this morning and now it’s up to $100 (Joke - just don’t click on anything they post - they’re a scam of course).

i've bought 2 gym bags, 3 pairs of shoes and 2 pairs of track pants - all in great condition, very cheap and still no issues months later.

I guess it‘s part of today‘s (Western) society that we are content already if such things survive for a few months.

I mean, I have gym bags and training outfits (though not shoes) that are already double-digit years old and still ok. They did come with a price tag, but in the long run, what‘s the better investment?

A lot of things not lasting nowadays is cause they're Chinese junk anyway that's widely available just about everywhere now. With most people not wanting to break-the-bank in buying everyday items, what does one expect. Plus, a lot of these companies intentionally make things to break or wear out after just a few months or a year or two of use. Cause otherwise, they know that their revenues would drastically fall if they make their products "too good" & last years. It's kinda like the pharmaceutical companies: they don't make cures, they sell treatment plans.

Sure, that‘s what I meant with my first paragraph above.

Then again, if I buy something from a company that breaks after a year, I might buy from them a second time but surely not a third one if it happens again.

Sure, one can obviously go that route (& if they can afford to). But since many consumers nowadays are basically driven by price (otherwise, retailers like Walmart, Amazon, & now the latest cheap fad - Temu, wouldn't be so popular), those people are always going to go for the cheapest option no matter what.

Also, it's easier to do that with some items, like clothing & shoes, for example, then with others, like TV's or appliances. It use to be that those pricey items use to last years, if not decades, before they needed replacements. Nowadays, it seems the more expensive these high-ticket items like those TV's & appliances are, the quicker they malfunction (& a lot of it has to do with all that extra stuff they add to them these days, that in most cases, aren't really necessary). And many times, it's not even worth the bother to get them repaired, cause a new model would not cost that much more to get VS fixing the older, broken one.

Just noting a funny thing with one of these latest “how to contact American Airlines toll free” spammers (I’m sure everyone’s noticed them).

Just got one, and when I clicked on his ID to delete his account I got a pop-up ad for… you guessed it… American Airlines toll-free contact numbers!

Sweet Baron Samedi! These voodoo spammers are even worse than the Temu mob  

Word of advice… they don’t work. I tried to get one of them to cast a spell on AF and nothing happened

Holes moley! I literally went to make a cup of coffee and when I got back another dozen or so voodoo spell threads appeared. They’re literally powered by the walking dead!

@Sir Rols you want to “cast a spell on me”?  That is outrageous coming from you.  You’re who is supposed to be a responsible amoderator.

When I did my duty in November 2022 and reported spammers to you as the Moderator,  you @Sir Rols permanently deleted the entire original 20-pages of the original Brisbane 2032 thread including all the historical posts leading up to and beyond when the bid was won.

So … let’s just rewind that.   I report Spammers to you as the moderator on Gamesbids.com in November 2021, and your response is to delete an entire 20-page thread.    The number of posts at that point of your deletion was around 1,500 or so.

I had to commence an entire new Brisbane 2032 thread after that on 21 November 2021, as you claimed that you could not retrieve the original Brisbane 2032 thread.

I remember, on an old forum that I frequented years ago, that we already had this kind of waves of spammers. We had realized that their IP address systematically came from India or Pakistan, and the administrator had set up a system where for all new members who registered with an IP from these countries, the administrator had to manually validate their account before they could post. Of course, in the registration form, there were a few questions that were asked, a bit like on Facebook groups, to try to sort between spammers and real people.

I don't know if these spammers come from a single country or from many different countries, but it can be a solution. (if it's technically feasible)

Yes, they’re terrible these waves of spammers.   They don’t appear to have yet been successful in getting into Skyscrapercity.com which is a similar Olympic forum to Gamesbids.com 

I just hope that Gamesbids can install a new firewall or whatever defences are necessary to stop the waves of spammers.

@GBModerator managed to do that to most of the Temu spammers - tracked them down to an industrial park owned by Reliance in India. That seemed to have worked well. Maybe he indeed can try to do the same with this voodoo spells mob.

Thanks @Guilga, that was a huge wave I woke up to this morning. There’ve been continuing intermittent attempts to spa, since then. I think we may get waves of them over the next few days.

Everybody, by all means report them, but don’t post in their threads. 

@GBModerator, I’ve noticed in the latest few Temu posts, their posts are automatically hidden without needing to block them manually. Have you added an approval queue for new posters? Or geo-blocking some ip addresses?
