Not exactly true, the Futurama theme is a separate composition by Christopher Tyng, but it has similiarities to Pierre Henry's "Psyché Rock". yoshi
Ads again... I'm imagining how bad it must be on NBC to have constant breaks throughout both sets of Games (I know Eurosport had them during the Olympics but they weren't this long)
Olympian2004
Haha, and now they play the theme song German broadcaster ZDF used for its Olympic broadcasts from Paris: Nino Ferrer's "Les Cornichons". A bit bizarre, since ZDF is also broadcasting this ceremony.
rio2016man
One of the things I love about Opening and Closing Ceremonies is the the slice of the countries culture all the athletes bring with their clothing
Nacholympic
Who is grateful because of the absence of mapping projections for ceremonies???
Olympian2004
I must say that the stage setting, especially with the centre stage around the obelisque, looks amazing now at night. During daylight, it didn't look that well.
Nacholympic
The Medal music again!! Great Job! I love the fact that they really use a lot the Medal music... Most of them are amazing and they always go unnoticed...
Bear
forced to switch to the NBC stream, it seems to be delayed a bit 🙁
Olympian2004
Victor Le Masne's "Parade" must be the most-used theme song in Olympic and Paralympic history now. I mean, it was used at all three opening and closing ceremonies and at all medal ceremonies so far. And probably a few times in between. AustralianFan
A solemn theatrical performance in the stadium and the crowd 200 metres away are going nuts over returning French athletes going back up Champs-Élysées some of whom are leaving early presumably to get rested for competition. yoshi
Hope it gets a bit more upbeat with time. Jolly seems to really like dark & moody. Oh it's the Tokyo Marseillaise again!

Ikarus360
I know Le Masne version of La Marseillaise is very good but it wouldn't have hurted they used different versions in the ceremonies. Its a shame it was repeated except for the Opening Ceremony where they did bothered to have a more distinctive version.
yoshi
This is a lovely version, but I'd have liked it if for one ceremony they'd done it a capella & just asked the crowd to sing. The Olympic closing would've probably fitted that best.
