KRATK
GERMANY vs. FRANCE!!!! If England won't be the rival for Germany in the final, that must be the Frenchs! The two last European champions... and Portugal in the third place. I like England but I hate Ericcson so I wanted that they lose because if they had won, Ericcson would said that his strategy was perfect. And France... amazing game against Brazil... they should have won by 3:0 but they won, that's the important. Brazil is so lucky that they could have been playing awful but they always win because of a miracle... and finally, their luck was over. The surprise: Zidane, THE player of the cup at the moment, and Ronaldinho... only played seven times... seven free kicks...

dave199
That 4-1 win means nothing, it happened it March at the end of the season without the full squard and without the training camp. Both teams are different now and Germany has overcome the best team in the tournement to that point and has assumed the mental of finalist team in most observers minds. Italy has doing nothing to impress and the knock against Germany 4 years ago is true of Italy now, in fact even more so since Paraguay and the US at the time had somewhat respectable teams. We will see Tuesday

baron-pierreIV
Other than to sell more tickets, why does FIFA even bother to have a 3rd place game?
mexico1968
Other than to sell more tickets, why does FIFA even bother to have a 3rd place game? i think because of the rankings..after the worl cup they rank the 32 National teams and how they did in the world cup, as you can see there would be difficult to rank the 3-4 place because of the Semis, so they do another match. and also because of the ticket$$..for the FIFA everything is a bout money..they remind me the IOC sometimes
baron-pierreIV
THanks, mex. BTW, here's my take on how the WC shakes out. THese things come and go in cycles. In 1998, the US was out in the first round, and France was great. In 2002, France and Argentina were eliminated in the first round. The US got to the final 8 (I think). AUstralia not even there. THis year, look the US and the Czechs were out the first round, but France, Australia, Argentina and Portugal have done great. South Africa not even there. So, for 2010 -- look for the US and RSA to be great. France, Italy, Germany, Australia, etc., will suck. That's jsut how it goes!!
