baron-pierreIV Posted August 29, 2024 Report Posted August 29, 2024 Just had a friend who splits his time between Manila and New York, visit/check out LA for 4 weeks. He likes the museums (which is pretty much all he saw), but since he doesn't drive--of course, that all but eliminates moving to LA. And the other thing I agree with: LA's climate is boring. It's the same friggin' sunny day EVERY DAY! He would miss the change of seasons he said. Quote

He would miss the change of seasons he said. Oh but it's not sunny every day! In fact I started this photo thread with May Gray/June Gloom. Los Angeles does have seasons, they're just very nuanced and subtle, not the in-your-face-must-be-spelled-out-and-obvious-for-some-people kind of seasons. When the flowers bloom and don't, cloudy skies, rainy days, the way the sunlight falls during winter vs. summer, the 2 different times of the year when the jacarandas bloom, pinkish-purple sunsets vs. silvery sunsets, etc. I tried to include different times of the year in this photo thread. Looking out my office window right now (I'm currently at work), it's very cloudy and 62 degrees Fahrenheit, in late August. Quote
ejaycat Posted August 29, 2024 Author Report Posted August 29, 2024 In fact, the Tom Cruise handover video where he ends up on the Hollywood sign was obviously filmed in March, being that the hills were very green. Of course the natural landscapes of California turn to those various shades of brown and greenish olive in the summer. Quote

(I think LA28 only approved the Cruise in late April.) They probably color-enhanced the surrounding greenery just as the 3 colored rings on top of the OO -- looked like CGI-additions. I mean this was a Hollywood product, so . . . P.S. You pics are very nice -- thanks for sharing. But can you limit the # of photos per post -- maybe max 6 per; because it overloads the scrolling process)? Thanks. Edited August 29, 2024 by baron-pierreIV Quote

Maybe April, possibly into May then. Things were still kinda green around here in May. 7 hours ago, baron-pierreIV said: P.S. You pics are very nice -- thanks for sharing. And I'll keep that in mind. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Speaking of the weather, sometimes I feel like our local news weather person likes to rub it in; this, from yesterday: A couple of random shots, both taken within the last few days. ejaycat Posted August 30, 2024 Author Report Posted August 30, 2024 ^^^^Seriously. I think Cybertrucks are one of the ugliest vehicles ever. I'm hoping the owners get rid of them soon, after the novelty wears off. I liken them to the huge Hummers you'd see here and there back in the two-thousand aughts, but you're probably too young to remember that. I think it's funny though, the people who try to make them look "different" from each other. Apart from the one above with the stickers, I've seen matte black ones, a pink one, a matte army-green one... Quote
