What do we know so far?

It is being produced by Ben Winston - known as the person behind The Kardashian's Disney+ show, The Ellen DeGeneres Special, The Grammy's, The Emmy's, and concerts for Billy Joel, Tracy Chapman...etc. Sounds like a real American showbiz type. 

Media speaks of a segment that includes Tom Cruise and an army of athletes passing an object between them (flag, torch??) and taking that back to LA - involving stunts etc. 

Any other info - who did the score? Director?

Source? There's literally no basis for this other than the fact that Fulwell 73 worked with them before. But they've also worked with Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, and Adele - though I don't think they're gonna be part of the handover 😭

For a celebration of the Lion King, Ben put North on the Hollywood Bowl stage as Simba.

This demonstrates Ben's practice of cross promotion. He produces both the Kardasians and the handover. I am suggesting it is probable he might do a little cross promotion and mix the two.

I just watched the last 3 summer Olympics handover segments (Rio, Tokyo, Paris) - must say Tokyo's is very impressive: the use of live action performance, prerecorded segments and floor projections work amazingly well. Paris was good, though I missed having any performance in the Tokyo stadium. 

Am actually intrigued to what LA will do - am secretly hoping it will be more like Tokyo's than Paris.

The Tokyo handover certainly delivered anticipation to the 2020 Games, until Covid came along & ruined it.

MAJOR HANDOVER NEWS:

The handoff of the Summer Olympic Games from Paris to Los Angeles just got a lot louder. Performances by Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are expected to be featured in the Closing Ceremony of the Paris games on Sunday, multiple sources told Variety. 

All three artists will be seen from Los Angeles in a mix of pre-taped and live performances. Producer Ben Winston, who is no stranger to live music events as the producer of the Grammy Awards and CBS’ 2021 “Adele: One Night Only” special, is coordinating with French producers of the Closing Ceremony. 

At the Closing Ceremony, the musical performances from Los Angeles are expected to follow a much-hyped stunt from Tom Cruise, news of which leaked last week. Cruise will jump on his motorcycle for an average day of death-defying tricks in France, before tossing to a prerecorded package that will see him parachute down next to the iconic Hollywood sign. The L.A.-affiliated musicians will take it from there.

AWFUL.  I hate that "American Idol"-type rhapsodizing.  That's NOT how these classic songs were written.  Nah - they're not using "AtB" and I hope not her either.
