As of exactly the moment this post is being written, Raí just ended his run with the olympic torch in Versailles. I feel this is the best time to start some conversation about my nation at the games, hopefully with the other brazilian members of this board. We are going with around 273 athletes, less than Tokyo, but mostly because the football boys decided to lose to Argentina at that pre-olympic while playing like a corpse, gosh, what a disaster!

About what we will do in Paris however; we start with our Football girls, who indeed are the a-team, vs Nigeria, followed by the Handball girls later. We have strong names in Surfing(Medina, Weston-Webb, Toledo and others), Athletics (Alisson dos Santos, to name one), Canoe(Izaquias and more), Andrade and the rest of the team in Artistic Gymnastics, Beach Volley, Indoor Volley, and of course, SKATEBOARDING!! The entire team here is good to take a look at! Also, our Rytmic Gymnasts are really going to medal contention too. Bia can show up in Tennis, Cunha are looking for a repeat gold in Open Water Swimming, Table Tennis is good to take a look too(Calderano, to also mention here). And this isn't the entire delegation, for sure!

Some of our athletes are already arriving in France to prepare, others are already in the village if i recall correctly. Meanwhile, Brazilian olympic twitter has been engulfed in a discourse caused by the looks of our OC look, which was compared to a evangelical dress. Yeah. Paris é logo ali!

Talk about FIRST! Nice results in Archery, giving us also a slot at the Mixed Doubles, Handball was great, dominating Spain! Gabi Moreschi, as the great caster Everaldo Marques said, you are RIDICULOUS! What a superb goal keeping! And handball wasn't the only one with good keeping either, no; thank you Lorena, your effort really helped against Nigeria in Football, with Gabi Portilho making the victory goal...that is techinically the second but that one was nulled by a offside just to make way immediately for the one that counted. Overall a positive day!

I was in the arena: she was the star!

Also, a lot of Brazilian spectators.

Eh, today we got no medals but nevertheless we did good at least. Where in indoors volleyball we fallen to Italy, we rose against Morocco in the beach; Nathalie fought hard with the sword even in defeat; we got two finals in swimming with Guilherme Costa, or Cachorrão, for very little missing the podium (what a tight race those 400m was!) and Mafê being the first woman of our country in this final in a long time. And it's not even over yet!

Let there be surf! As of writing, the boys already broke through the waves, and soon the girls will too. The boys did very well, thank you very much.

One of them decided to loudly complain like a Karen and got herself a kick straight back to

Correction: she acted like a Karen because of changes in the relay, the getting out of the village thing was an aggravant

First medal guaranteed! It had to be Judo, isn't it? Vai William!

And then we get 2 bronzes and a silver in a hour!

Today we had quite an emotional rollercoaster. Rayssa Leal getting the bronze at the last trick, Willian Leal and Letícia Pimenta always with tight fights in Judo, Football shooting their foot with extra deadly explosives, Rugby just losing to stronger teams, Surfing going well so far, Beach Volleyball getting 2-0 at all matches, Satila almost getting at the podium at canoe.

And also a great display of our Gymnastics Women's team! Now, surf will progress but is already dark in Paris. Hope we can get a gold soon to match the rest of our collection...

Ah, an silvery day today! Caio at Race Walking and Rebeca at the All-Around! Hope our gold shines soon still, but i'm sure that we still have more to bring.

Tuesday: . . . . . . . . . .

Wednesday: Augusto Akio with a brilliant Bronze.

Thursday: Hearts were broken, for sure. Indoor Volley has now to contend for bronze against Turkiye, after a nail-bitting defeat to the USA in a 5-set thriller. In the Beach, Ana Patricia and Duda secured their slot at the gold medal final after an equally tense tie breaker vs the Australians. And between all that, an bronze at Taekwondo for Edival Pontes. Hope my country cardiologists are ok, because our hearts will go on overtime from here on out.

Friday: So, we decided to make the color treble.

Painful losses in rytmic gymnastics with one team member injuring herself while competing on team and very bad luck overall, and even more painful events outside the games as well as a plane crashed in Viledo-SP, this evening, leaving over 60 casualties. Before that, Izaquias got his silver at Canoe Sprint. After, dos Santos, Piu, got a well earned bronze at 400m. And as the day became night in Brasil, Ana Patrícia and Duda Sampaio clinched that gold at Beach Volleyball, heck yeah! An good ending for a painful day.

And that much settles it. After our silver in football and bronze at volleyball, both with the women, I feel that barring a surprise out of nowhere, our campaign at this games is pretty much over in terms of medals.

3 gold, 7 silver, 10 bronze. Most of them won by our girls, as predicted by the major part of the delegation being them. 20 medals won, and yet it feels underwhelming. Many near misses, expected favorites being eliminated or judges being not in our side...and what makes some fools think in social media that this games were a total failure, not enough gold medals. Even if we got way more medals than what a truly bad campaign would. Maybe we had quite high expectations after Tokyo. But hey, we dreamed.
