Michelle Posted August 11 Report Posted August 11 Ok. I actually am super excited for LA 28. Didn’t think I’d have this feeling. But wow, feeling the vibe. Quote

FYI Posted August 11 Report Posted August 11 4 minutes ago, Olympian2004 said: How often does one have to watch a ceremony "repeatedly" in order to be able to form an opinion about it, in your view. Just asking, because your statement really puzzles me. If we follow this kind of rationale, we shouldn't even be allowed to comment and form an opinion about the current closing ceremony in this chat. Because we only saw this ceremony once by now, right? No, that's not what I'm saying at all. Of course we can comment on *today's* CC, because it's happening right now & it's tangible. We can comment on what we like/don't like about *this* OC. What I'm getting at, though, is how can we comment & *subjectively* compare it from past Ceremonies with what we're seeing right now, especially from ceremonies from *many* years ago (if not decades ago) if one has watched many of those ceremonies only once to fairly determine a 'favorite' or 'worst ever'. Many people can't even remember last week, let alone two decades ago. Quote

Trump will have absolutely zero impact on how the LA Games are hosted. If anything, it will increase the desire on part of organizers to show that Trump ≠ America. Quote
Ikarus360 Posted August 11 Report Posted August 11 Why am I watching a handover specially designed for the Covid pandemic? Why they decided to not perform on Paris and i'm seeing a prerecorded video? Quote
kevzz Posted August 11 Report Posted August 11 Handover has been great so far! Production is slick and Tom’s cameo is brilliant. Quote
yoshi Posted August 11 Report Posted August 11 Got to say, as someone who's never seen a US summer Olympics, I'm enjoying this. Or at least I was until the Chilli Peppers turned up, not my musical thing at all. But it just looks so California, so it's doing its job Quote
emre Posted August 11 Report Posted August 11 what should be more american then this.... ? See u in LA guys if we live till then:) Quote

Olympian2004 Posted August 11 Report Posted August 11 It is really interesting how the whole dynamic of the ceremony changed with the LA handover segment. I am not blown away by it, but it sure has a different vibe. The live segment in Venice Beach creates a real "welcome to sunny California" vibe. And very American. I am glad to see the Coliseum being used again in 2028, probably one of the most iconic if not THE most iconic of all Olympic stadia. Quote

Scotguy II Posted August 11 Report Posted August 11 Yeah i love RHCP but its a live video, plus a very small crowd in LA. Quote
kevzz Posted August 11 Report Posted August 11 I think the concert is live. And at last someone who knows how to direct an outdoor live show. Great camera work! It ain’t that hard, Paris Quote

Bear Posted August 11 Report Posted August 11 not to spoil the fun but this was recorded yesterday i believe 1 Quote
