rio2016man Posted August 11, 2024 Report Posted August 11, 2024 As an American, seeing Phoenix perform is an emotional thing for me because their album “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix” Quote

Apparently there were very tense discussions between the OCOG and OBS over the filming of this year’s games. During women‘s shot put, the winning attempt wasn‘t even fully caught by the camera, and it was the second last attempt of the event. Would have had time enough to adjust. Also terrible direction/camerawork at other events. Quote
yoshi Posted August 11, 2024 Report Posted August 11, 2024 The TV feed direction has been pretty rubbish too, which hasn't helped. Same problem the opening suffered minus the excuse of rain. The torch relay recap is also an opening thing. Quote
Olympian2004 Posted August 11, 2024 Report Posted August 11, 2024 Okay, and now the speeches. What an odd sequence of events. I guess they only needed the torch relay video as a filler while they set up the lectern on the stage. Quote

olimpicgamer Posted August 11, 2024 Report Posted August 11, 2024 London's closing ceremony was not that great either. Saved by the appearances of some celebrities, it was not very creative. Rio was better. Quote
Sir Rols Posted August 11, 2024 Report Posted August 11, 2024 Speeches coming. Finally some action! Quote

Fair enough, I get that but - my point is that I don't feel there have been that many technical issues during sport broadcasts. (except athletes on the track). emre Posted August 11, 2024 Report Posted August 11, 2024 i really start to believe this closing ceremony is Plan B, after so bad reviews on opening, they remake a new plan in 15 days. cause u cant explain the lack of artistic elements and famous french groups missing here... Quote
Michelle Posted August 11, 2024 Report Posted August 11, 2024 Thomas Bach. To make things even better. Wonderful! Quote
Tatsh Posted August 11, 2024 Report Posted August 11, 2024 2 hours for almost nothing And now the speechs Quote
sebastien1214 Posted August 11, 2024 Report Posted August 11, 2024 The opening ceremony anthem cuts off abruptly. What a massacre. Not even a successful transition on something simple. **** the TV director. Quote
Bear Posted August 11, 2024 Report Posted August 11, 2024 take it all in guys - thomas bach's last speech 🙂 1 Quote

It's not the same team (well I mean the same TV director) for the ceremonies as for the events. The difference, in my opinion, comes from there. Realize that even there, while we are in a stadium, there are a lot of missteps in TV production. Quote

That, I suspect, is a consequence of following the model of lighting the audience in blue (very notable in Athens and London). TV cameras are easily saturated by blue. Quote

Ikarus360 Posted August 11, 2024 Report Posted August 11, 2024 This guy did so much damage to the Olympic movement and its popularity. He's the living embodiment of the "How do you do fellow kids" meme. So fucking glad he'll finally be gone in 2025 and I won't have to see him again in Cortina. Mind you, i'm sure the IOC is already filled with people as bad or worse than him, but at least I hope the next president is more charismatic. 1 Quote

And what the hell was the point of that torch relay montage in a CLOSING CEREMONY. So much bad decisions for this show. Quote
