But they really squeezed all the protocol segments into the beginning, right? Now they already have the (now-traditional) thank you to the volunteers.

Yeah, I think they wanted to fill the daylight portion of the ceremony with all the non-artistic stuff. Damn time zone...

Well done to the volunteers. Now can we stop this shame of taking volunteers and not paying them? Their work was essential to the organisation of the Games. They must be paid. I don't care if it means increasing the price of the Games by €500 million.

In Rio 2016 they sang to the volunteers. Now here in Paris 2024, the volunteers sing to us it seems!

In fact, it is the very concept of volunteering in the context of the Olympic Games that I find unacceptable. (but yes, it goes against the concept, we agree)

no. that's not it. the "scenario" of this segment is people who discover the ruins of the Earth and vestiges, archives of the Olympics. we are in a dystopia where the Olympics have disappeared, precisely

One of the German TV commentators just said about Thomas Jolly that he feels bored after one-and-a-half minutes. So why did he then stage an opening ceremony that took forever in some parts?
