nykfan845
Just exploratory for now. So Chicago is still decisive on a bid or not? When are they required to come up with an answer to the USOC?
RAP
So Chicago is still decisive on a bid or not? When are they required to come up with an answer to the USOC? If they and any of the other cities are still interested they better come up with a proposal by June 21 to the USOC; also they all need concrete stadium plans most of all, or other wise if I where the USOC, I would forget 2016 and concentrate on perhaps 2018 and 2022 with either a Reno/Tahoe or Denver Winter Olympic bid. Outside of a Chicago or San Francisco bid, a Philly bid would be what the German OC did with their bid of Leipzeg for 2012. It wasn't even shortlisted. Whoever has a NEW state of the art Olympic stadium gets the nomination from the USOC.

I think pretty much all the candidates, except for Los Angeles, are kind of in the exploratory stages at this point.
la2stl
i wouldn't be surprised if they don't actually have a bid team until the usoc formally chooses them.

There is no way the USOC will choose them if that happens. I would be completely dumbfounded and surprised if the USOC did that.

My understanding is that the cities are going to wait until the USOC decides if they are even going for 2016 and then start forming committes. Los Angeles actually has always had the loosely-formed SCCOG - "Southern California Committee for the Olympic Games" ready to spring into action if events so warrant it. When it's on idle mode, it also moonlights as ICOG, the Istanbul Committee for the Olympic Games.
