Yeah I just had toooo

Following the sudden but expected stripping of Baranquilla's rights to host the 20th PanAm games, two Mexican cities immediately "rose their hands" to replace the Colombian city. And both have really brought on their support game.

For some back context, the last time Mexico hosted the PanAm games was in 2011 in Guadalajara, Jalisco; giving their unofficial bid a boost knowing they have the venues and the experience.

Now as for Nueva Leon, while the city has yet to experience a similar feat, they still have a compelling argument on something along the lines of venturing on infrastructure opportunities, even reasoning the 2026 FIFAWC into it (which was also another backing statement on Jalisco). But honestly only time can tell how well these interests age.

I always thought Monterrey in NL would be a good setting for another Olympic-style event in Mexico, I hope they go for it

Considering the time, 3 years afar (Ironically the same number of years for 1986 FIFA World Cup after Colombia withdrawed), I think Guadalajara has the edge (Or doing a double event with two cties). But also, this decision is key considering the Olympic bid.

Honestly if Guadalajara (or any Mexican city at all) would win the bid, it would be a funny fuel to any Mexican-Colombian arguemnt lolz

Yea as much as Guadalajara is one of the number one picks at the moment other than Asuncion, it would be nice to see another city shine their stuff in the hosting game

Another thing in consideration for picking the Mexican bid is political. The upcoming general elections will be this year. Unless a big disaster happens, it's completely clear the next President will be a woman and Lopez Obrador's succesor - Claudia Sheinbaum. The question is related to the regional governments (states).

Nuevo Leon will have a new governor till 2027 (Recently the governor Samuel Garcia made a brief campaign for a third party - Citizens' Movement) but the pressure over the main opposition (PRI and PAN) and internal constitutional crisis made difficult that. PAN, but especially PRI, are facing a life or death election. Regionally speaking Nuevo Leon only have a changement of local congress.

However, there will be a new governor in 2024 in Jalisco. Originally the other state from Citizens' Movement, the current governor (Enrique Alfaro) is facing high levels of disapproval and backlash, so in the prospects of the new election is likely the new governor came from the officialism (MORENA and allies), and not just the governor, two thirds numbers of mayors of the current metropolitan area of Guadalajara also could belong to MORENA.
