Yes normally live chat on gamesbids.com is for ceremonies, but this historic, much anticipated announcement of Targeted Dialogue for both the 2030 and 2034 editions of the Olympic Winter / Paralympic Games will be compelling viewing, as will the Q&A with journalists at the end.

It was a year ago that we at this position only to learn that the whole continuous dialogue process for 2030 and 2034 was on pause.

This time round and multiple posts, opinions, debates from fans here on Gamesbids.com, we are finally about to learn who is in serious contention for the double award 2030 and 2034 Host Elections to be held in 2024.

• Who is the front-runner for each?
• Who will, or won’t, make it through to the final host elections in 2024?

No, they don’t do bid logos anymore.  It’s an unnecessary cost that can be done away with.

What’s beginning on 29 November is the second targeted dialogue period and possibly up to three candidatures elevated for 2030 and only SLC likely for 2034.

With a relatively short period of time between elevation to Targeted Dialogue and the Host Election, bid logos are not necessary.

For whoever is elected next year for the 2030 Games and likely SLC 2034, can turn their minds to an actual Games logo at the aprropriate time.   I would think that the  2030 Host can really get to work on that almost immediately once elected some time in 2024.

Looking forward to watching the Announcements but also all the journalists’ questions and IOC EB answers.

First they came for the bid books, and no-one said anything because no-one read them.

Then they came for the bid logos, and no-one said anything because the logo comp always produced better ones.

Then they came for the bid presentations, and no one asked anything because Inside The Games had been bought by the Russisns.

Finally, they came for the host vote, and there was no one was left to care because Thomas Bach and John Coates had already determined the winners.

Looks like the Governor of Utah has a meeting with the Salt Lake City bid team at 4:30 PM that day, and will also be in attendance at this celebration... very positive sign of things to come

I hope the Salt Lake City fans are aware of this as they are planning a ‘Watch Party’:

“bid supporters will be at a “watch party” Wednesday on the steps of the Salt Lake City-County Building to view an IOC news conference set to be livestreamed at 11 a.m. for any announcement about 2030 and 2034.”

“The IOC Executive Board is scheduled to hear from the Future Host Commission on Wednesday. Despite last year’s delay, Bullock said there isn’t any reason to believe there won’t be a decision about targeted dialogue.”

its almost a certainty that the city or region that enters into targeted dialogue will eventually become the confirmed host city / region

Well the interesting thing is,yes, if there was only one elevated to TD.   But if there was more than one elevated to targeted dialogue, now that is a brand bew story ….. and would be the first time ever considering this is only the second targeted dialogue announcement in history we’re hopefully about to witness soon.

yep, if multiple bids are elevated then we pretty much get a classic host city vote at the IOC Session
