Seeing this thread, a question from me: I’ll be on a US Southwest tour this year with two days in LA. Is the Coliseum open for visitors/worth it if so? Will be there with the family on Labor Day weekend actually.

there are tours -> https://www.lacoliseum.com/tours/

however i don't think you can book them for september 2024 right now, so I would keep tracking the ticketmaster page linked in the website over the next few months.

I’m in LA with my job shortly and will try and hire a car and take some photos around the Coliseum.  Will also try to check out SoFi Stadium which is a bit closer to Orange County where I’m staying.

If you're around SoFi, see if you can check out Intuit Dome, the new LA Clippers Stadium.  That one is still under construction, so I'd be curious to see how things are progressing there

On the inside?  I guess you missed the bit about the LA Coliseum tours that @Bear posted which I’m hoping if I can get on one will cover at least part of the internals lf the stadium as well as hopefully a look at the cauldron tower more closely.  If I cant jag a spot on a tour earlier than September, will do the best I can from a walkaround.

I just don't know where they find the time, really. I mean between 'their job', that sends them globe-trotting all the time it seems, taking pictures, & all their constant spamming/lecturing/creating phony handles here, & supposedly some sort of a life in-between, they're just can't be enough hours in a single day!

Yikes, it’s raining in Los Angeles today, the 405 is blocked and so the long way to bed today from LAX on another freeway in Orange County. Just saw SoFi Stadium as we whizzed by, directly under a LAX flight path.  The roof on the stadium might help shield the aircraft noise during the opening ceremony in ‘28 (?)

yeahh December - March probably isn't the best time to visit in regards to the weather... My parents told me it's been raining a lot the past few days, but I think it should get better over the next few days. Enjoy your time in SoCal :)

Thanks @bear.  I’m used to LA being so sunny during all the seasons and its rare to see it raining here.  Snow up on Big Bear i; the Rockies behind Los Angeles  I’ve seen a few times over the years on these work trips and that is a beautiful sight on a sunny day as the snow up there reflects the sunlight.

I don’t think he’s joking …. and I strongly disagree with his view that this triple-Olympics LA Memorial Coliseum should be demolished.

I am not joking - at all.

Welcome to the the Coliseum... not.

  • nil female changing rooms
  • no escalators in the stadium
  • ’toddler size’ seats
  • nil wifi connectivity
  • long climb up stairsto upper tiers
  • no designated lifts for disabled or less mobile spectators, just freight lifts
  • this old stadium’s wiring resulted in the 1994 Northridge earthquake

They can and will knock down this dog of a stadium and build that better, inclusive, accessible, connected, comfy replacement for NFL use.

… somehow you’ve managed to mix up thrGabba stadium in Brisbane with the LA Memorial Coliseum,

… or are you just trolling to get a reaction.
