GBModerator Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 This board is new for us all. If you have questions - post them here. (If someone other than the moderator has an answer, feel free to respond constructively.)
Sir Rols Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 Is it still open to tweaking? I must admit, I;'m still finding it fiddly to use, but i suppose I'll get used to it. But one thing I'm missing already is the easy colour coding to distinguish which forums have new posts made since you last logged on.

Rafa Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 Hi What do these new forums mean to the non-premium member? What are the new cool features we should be trying out?
GBModerator Posted May 26, 2006 Author Report Posted May 26, 2006 HiWhat do these new forums mean to the non-premium member? What are the new cool features we should be trying out? I'm not even sure of all this board has to offer, explore to find the new features.
ghost1 Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 I knew it would come up to this, eventually. Well, I admit I have a very strange hardware firewall that doesn't allow me to log into sites and use java script features. There were only a few sites that I could log into without having those problems. These were e-mails and ... the old Gamesbids forums. Now we have the new system and while I agree that it looks great, I'm sad that I won't be able to use it like before. Now I can only log in here, post a reply and then it throws me away. And I can't stand it, you can imagine logging in after every single post. Well, I don't expect that anyone can fix it, if you advise me to throw away my hardware firewall, I can't, because it's also a rooter that provides the Internet signal. So a dead end, so to say. And I knew it was coming, I just hoped it would come later. Now I have two choices - either I will use dial-up (it's apart from the firewall, so I don't have the logging in problems), which is veeeery slow and expensive or I will have to log in everytime I post a message or want to change sth to my profile. But I won't give up Gamesbids, that's for sure. P.S.: Is it possible that I continue to use the old board system? P.S.P.S.: Maybe now I will have to log in again in order to post this message, because I think it has thrown me away
GBModerator Posted May 26, 2006 Author Report Posted May 26, 2006 P.S.: Is it possible that I continue to use the old board system? Sorry, that is not possible. Buy a new router.
barrack Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 There seems to be some issues with Firefox. Some of the formatting just disappears. When I opened up the same page in IE, it was alright. I'm not sure what would cause this, as I've used firefox on other sites that use this style of forum and it works fine.

Being kind of a geek, I refuse to use IE
GBModerator Posted May 26, 2006 Author Report Posted May 26, 2006 Same problem here. Firefox completely fucks up quoted posts. Being kind of a geek, I refuse to use IE Can you be more specific - I've been using Firefox all day with no problems - there are more issues when I use IE?
GBModerator Posted May 26, 2006 Author Report Posted May 26, 2006 Can you be more specific - I've been using Firefox all day with no problems - there are more issues when I use IE? I got your post with the screenshots - I'll check it out. I deleted your post since it was so large - just to keep this thread flowing.
Guardian Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 When I go to some topics, I do sometimes get a few wacky looks of the posts afterwards. Some of them go to the left or right of the general straight line of the posts. For others, some posts are missing completely.
pooette Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 in both IE and Firefox, sometimes for a post there is no type, but an ico similar to the "quote/reply" icons appear saying "email" and then there are some more icons offset to the left, stretching the page. also in firefox, often the last post of the page is just a bunch of type (specifically, tonnes of links to gamesbids pages yet they are not linked)
SOlympiadsW Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 I really like the new forums and am definately getting used to it... however just two minor things I have notice...some of the threads have like a mismatching face next to them...also why in some threads like the 2014 Shortlist one that I started, it still says I started the thread, but my initial post that started it isn't there.... other than that I have found no problems....thanks
Aronious Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 I must admit the forums do look great, though i am having a few problems. Note: I use Firefox In most threads (namely those with images in posts) towards the bottom of the thread pages, text seems to overlap images, images overlap each other and the boarders that surround each post somewhat "mould together. What should i do?

Apple Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 Can't you get rid of the "Edited by..blah blah" thing at the bottom? It wasn't like that with the old board. Oh another question is there a way to change your font colour in the settings?
Rominger Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Moderator, The forum really looks nice, but I have only one question. I am not premium and I am happy with that, but I was thinking about the advantages of being premium. One of that was: Being able to open posts only reserved for Premium Members. So, my question is: if non-Premium members don´t have a clue of what is being discussed at the Premium Forums (without even knowing the title of the topics), why someone would bother to be Premium because of this feature? What great discussions we, non-Premium members, are missing? Just don´t make sense to me so that´s just my curiosity. Other than that, great improvement and keep up the good work.

Why not send a PM to some Premium Members and ask them?
Rominger Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 Why not send a PM to some Premium Members and ask them? No thanks. Like I said I was just curious, but I really don´t bother that much. I don´t log (and post) here that often to check what I am missing to be a Premium member...unless the forum closes an aera just for continental games (like the PanAm Games).
Sir Rols Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Any progress on getting those news snippet headlines back on the forums page? I'm missing them.
