SportLightning Posted April 28, 2023 Report Posted April 28, 2023 I heard big news that the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 will be hosted by Qatar. It will be another historic event. But will be the first time the FIBA Basketball World Cup will be held in the Middle East/North Africa. After Qatar's successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup, this is another big event that Qatar is going to host. https://www.fiba.basketball/news/qatar-announced-as-host-of-the-fiba-basketball-world-cup-2027 Quote
SportLightning Posted April 28, 2023 Author Report Posted April 28, 2023 All games will be played in Doha. Venues: Aspire Dome Ali Bin Hamad al-Attiyah Arena Ali Bin Hamad al-Attiyah Arena This has been a long progress to find a host for the 2027 edition. Now the 20th FIBA Basketball World Cup journey is just the beginning. At the halftime of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Philippines, Japan and Indonesia, the three co-hosts (Philippines, Japan and Indonesia) will pass the ball on to Qatar as their successor. SportLightning Posted April 28, 2023 Author Report Posted April 28, 2023 And the venue for the final will be the Lusail Arena. Quote
Guilga Posted April 28, 2023 Report Posted April 28, 2023 WELL, here we go again!! WAHOO!! At least the venues are already built this time. The one thing that really has some headscratchers, human rights violations of the future host country aside (well, it´s not like past hosts didnt have their skelektons at the closet, to be fair), is the fact that FIBA doesn´t seen keen in changing the host continent for three editions in a row in the mens event, altough Qatar is literally opposite of China and Southeast Asia at the very least. Like, Africa, Americas, Europe, Oceania? Is there something missing that we don´t get or they just ain´t interested? Quote
SportLightning Posted April 28, 2023 Author Report Posted April 28, 2023 The bid video i found. https://www.facebook.com/mohamedelgzar4/videos/1169731853710170/ The venue clusters on venues and accomendation will be less than 20 minutes. Quote
Guilga Posted April 28, 2023 Report Posted April 28, 2023 Just now, SportLightning said: And the venue for the final will be the Lusail Arena. WHAT? A BASKETBALL COURT IN A FOOTBALL STADIUM? Ok, that´s really nuts. Quote

SportLightning Posted April 29, 2023 Author Report Posted April 29, 2023 That's OK. This could promise to be a sustainable FIBA Basketball World Cup with greenery technology and carbon-neutral. All four already exist. Quote

FIBA does not reference to labor or human rights issues. Not comparing with FIFA. Quote

SportLightning Posted January 28 Author Report Posted January 28 The logo of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 has been unveiled along with the slogan: "Step It Up". The logo is inspired by a bisht, a traditional garment the men wear in Qatar and forms the Naismith Trophy. Quote

The bisht shown here certainly immediately reminds us of the one Lionel Messi got to happily wear from the host organizers during the trophy presentation/awards ceremony right before getting his hands on the World Cup trophy for Argentina in Lusail!
