^Well, that's basically the entire premise of the other thread that you just posted in. Why Switzerland, but not Sweden, given this "privileged" status when both bids needed work. Both countries have rocky previous failed bids, & one or both would also still require referendums.

Actually, what they have to do is coming up with what essentially is a completely new plan with drastic changes in venues, adding olympic villages and getting the financial guarantee they had skipped before. Yes, they can do it. Actually putting together such a plan shouldn't be that difficult. The big question is if they can get the approval of the Swiss voters. Their old, and most likely cheaper, plan was specifically designed to avoid a need for a referendum.

Absolutely not. Every potential site in Sweden and Latvia gave the same assurance without that addendum as far as I know.

If you think I'm lamenting the Swedish being dumped you are completely mistaken. Personally I felt an immense relief on Wednesday. Mostly because I have a problem with the capricious EB.

Actually that is only half the reason. I'm scared witless at the thought of a WOG project under the authority of the present SOK. However, that wasn't a reason mentioned by EB.
