Yeah, everyone is pleased for Messi - nobody deserves it more. Remember if you, or anyone else, wants to try to make up for defeat in Qatar by bringing some glory home (or if you're Argentine, to continue the celebration), you can enter this very competition! Entries still very open :)

Ah yes, thanks! I'm still on it! Making Nairobi as of the moment!

This is my final submission (unless I’m hit with a rush of last-minute inspiration).

When I submitted my first two Nairobi logos, they were jokes obviously. The elephants and Survivor were more to try and drum up some activity and interest in this year’s comp (which happily has been pretty successful anyway).

When it came time to try and come up with a “real” logo to submit for Nairobi, I was a bit stumped. My favourite Olympic logos, real life and in the comps, are ones that have a sense of “location” and evoke the host. And while wildlife is obviously one of the major images of Africa and Kenya (it’s what drew me on my own African visit - a safari through Kenya and Tanzania), I thought it was a bit too glib for an Oly logo - and I didn’t want to do Africa the disservice of treating it as a vast open-range zoo. I tried doing something with Kikuyu and Maasai designs, but it just didn’t work for me (or more likely, beyond my talent).

Then I thought, why not the animals? They really could boldly and vividly brand Kenya and Africa. And so I submit:

The animals are a celebration and tribute to Kenya’s unique and fragile biodiversity, and our need to nurture and protect that precious environment. The animals chosen are ones that represent the Olympic Games motto and ideals - the cheetah (faster), the giraffe (higher) and the elephant (stronger) - all together. The athletes, both the able-bodied and the Paralympian, pay homage to Kenya’s long heritage as track runners, while also drawing strength from the Olympian animal representatives. The main colours, of course, are those of the Kenyan flag (I tried others, but they either were too fruity or could denote other African nations - there’s some pretty colourful flags on that continent). The font is just one I came across while trying a few out, and I liked it.

Anyway, I hope you all like it as well!

nice and decent work rols.. actually i begin to like it by time.. +1 by me..

2 few little touches as an idea: ;)

1// you can use the pastel-teints of those 4 coulours.. for a pastel version on promo-material..

2// for a black/white example for a contrast view, make a conture in white-line of the 4 entities.. the logo certainly would come forward.. and of cource the font also in white.. it could make the wow-factor on a black t-shirt

Here's my entry for NAIROBI 2036!

TPMPHeK.png

The design is inspired by the beaded collar necklace traditionally worn by the Maasai people in Kenya, its roundness emphasizing the worldwide scope of the Olympic Games. The triangular beads (20 in number) and bordering beads (36, excluding the intervening elements) symbolize the year of hosting the Games, 2036. A red triangular bead borrowed from the logo is placed in the midst of the wordmark, signifying the prospective of peace and prosperity in the world through sport.

Now, a few applications:

Ok everyone, a quick pre-Christmas stocktake.

@fatixxx @Sir Rols @Scotguy II @Victorian have all entered both their logos, thank you!

@Bear has entered a logo for Reykjavik, so Nairobi is still waiting for you.

@Aussie bum (Davey) & @JDCLauron have both entered just for Nairobi so far, so Reykjavik waits for you.

I will @ everyone in my list again:

@paul @Glacib @Lord David @R__ @thatsnotmypuppy @mr.bernham @woohooitsme83 @VIK @baron-pierreIV @JMarkSnow2012 @nzl @Utkarsh Verma @Athensfan @Citius Altius Fortius @Olympian1010 @TorchbearerSydney @JO2024 @Nacholympic @aismanggo @Anthony @Jon Will Chambers @DannyelBrazil @ScoBit @Palette86 @Fiorenzo @pcutone @Olympic Fan Darcy @Athens 2004 forever @ulu @Qss212 @PikyoK

This is the final @ I will do. As we have a field of 5/6 logos already, I will warn everyone that this year, I will NOT be extending the comp beyond my usual accepting of anything that comes in before the vote starts. So the deadline, the hard deadline, is 1pm London time on SATURDAY 31 DECEMBER. I intend to start the winter vote on 2 January, so that little extra period will only apply to New Year's Day. Thank you :)
