AustralianFan Posted December 9, 2022 Report Posted December 9, 2022 Average minimum February Temperature - Trojena, Saudi Arabia? This has been difficult and I still havent found the answer. But it “looks like” Trojena does not havecan average February temperature below freezing. This is the likely new IOC temperature requirement to come (10 year average), as announced this week they are looking into. Can anyone else find the average February minimum temperature for Trojena? I suspect the developers of this mega-resort would have dropped their coffee cups, and the blood drain from their faces, in utter shock at this week’s IOC EB announcements: IOC Executive Board stunning announcements re future Olympic Winter Games - 6 December 2022 Quote
Bear Posted July 8, 2023 Author Report Posted July 8, 2023 With the recent OCA announcement (see: https://www.gamesbids.com/forums/topic/34673-asian-winter-games-harbin-2025/If the OCA was planning to have the Asian Winter Games in 2025, why did they announce 2029 first, to a currently nonexistent city with a nonexistent (and non-viable, seeing as it relies on so much artificial-everything) ski resort, in a country that only just made its Winter Olympic debut (and has never made it to the Asian Winter Games)? Of course, this question already came to me as soon as I heard that the OCA awarded Saudi Arabia this event, but the fact that we now know they prioritized 2029 and not 2025 only intensifies it. I imagine that the list of corruption controversies associated with the former OCA President is no coincidence either, with the IOC having to step in and warn him not to interfere with the OCA presidential election just yesterday: IOC warns convicted Kuwaiti sheikh against getting involved in Asian Olympic election | AP News someone needs to investigate the OCA Quote
Bear Posted July 8, 2023 Author Report Posted July 8, 2023 wait wait wait - it gets better: OCA elects Sheikh Talal as new President in vote overshadowed by corruption (insidethegames.biz) With the dude's election, all non-acting OCA presidents have belonged to the same immediate family, with the first one being the father of the last president and the new incoming one. also - "Sheikh Ahmad did not attend the General Assembly but guided the campaign from his hotel suite with several countries switching their votes overnight, leading to a decisive swing behind Sheikh Talal." definitely not suspicious. Sir Rols Posted July 8, 2023 Report Posted July 8, 2023 You might also note: Russian and Belarus athletes to be allowed to compete at Asian Games to help Paris 2024 qualification Between the Saudi’s, China and Russia now they’re increasingly leaning into the OCA since they became pariahs in Europe, the OCA is fast becoming the black hole of corruption and authoritarian worship in world sport. Guilga Posted July 28, 2023 Report Posted July 28, 2023 Gosh, imagine if the IOC after taking boxing, takes the Asian Games too... Quote
norseskijump Posted December 26, 2023 Report Posted December 26, 2023 So I guess this will be a stepping stone for Saudi to bid for the winter olympics? The Saudis have already said that the olympics is their ultimate goal and if they are serious about Trojena as this global ski resort, then I wouldn't be shocked if the winter games is something Saudi would be interested in at some point.
