baron-pierreIV
Coleman (Camping Gear and maker of portable gas lamps) looks like it's going out of business. Coleman produced the torches for LA 1984. (They possibly could also have made the 132 Lake Placid 1980 torches.) Coleman closing its plant after 40 years in operation, about 150 workers will be laid off (msn.com) Too bad they won't be able to bid for the 2028 torches. (I don't know who manufactured the Atlanta 1996 and Salt Lake 2002 torches.)
baron-pierreIV
Just found this. In September 2020, as Covid was raging, Premier Sheet Metals. which also manufactured the London 2012 torches, was forced to go out of business! London 2012 Torch manufacturer forced out of business by coronavirus (insidethegames.biz) Maybe this Olympic torch thing is on its dying legs. With Paris 2024, it surely has reached a nadir in design. Maybe LA28 will be the last one. Edited July 25, 2023 by baron-pierreIV
