Regions looking to host the Olympic Winter Games in 2030 have now been given loose expectations on when they can expect the bid race to end.  At the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) 139th Session held in Lausanne, Switzerland Friday IOC Director General Christophe De Kepper revealed for the first time that the hopeful target for […]

Pffft! We all know they “could” be ready tomorrow if Bach’s or Coates’ NOCs had a bid in that needed to be fast-tracked….

What is nonsense is to think otherwise

Since the new candidature host selection process was introduced, known as New Norm, nothing has or will be fast-tracked in relation  to the first two New Norm hosts selected being for 2032 nor for the second one, 2030.

There is no evidence whatsoever of this term “fast-tracking” that you have chosen yourself to just drop it into this forum yourself claiming to speak on behalf of “we all know”.

As I said, what you wrote is nonsense.

What utter tripe!

So, selecting the 2032 host ELEVEN years in advance, before even the 2030 games to come before it, with no great urgency to do so, with at least two other hopeful bidders crying foul at the haste, and the opaque process being almost universally condemned by respected Olympics journalists and writers, was not fast-tracking?????

Just about anyone with any serious knowledge of Olympic hosting decisions would know it was fast-tracked. You just don’t want to accept it because it ruins your PR spin of 2032 being sunshine, rainbows and lollipops and the greatest decision ever made in the history of the Olympics mankind.

Again here you go with no evidence and lots of colourful words to mask that you have no evidence of any fast-tracking.

Those above are your words, and your words only.

Here are the facts:

Feb 2018 New Norm Announced to the world at the Pyeong Chang Winter Games.

Evidence:  Here’s the actual document and time-stamp:   The New Norm: It’s a Games changer - 6 Feb 2018 - IOC

2018-2021   Brisbane got moving on it very quickly, securing crucial bi-partisan 3-level government and opposition parties support, reparing various feasability and value proposition studies, visiting the IOC, having  the IOC visit Australia, for,ing a multi-level Candidature Leadership Group from all levels of government.

What were the other interested 2032 parties doing all this time? You need to ask them , but ostrich with head in the sand comes to mind.

Feb 2021  Brisbane elevated to Targeted Dialogue by the IOC

July 2021 Brisbane elected Host of the 2032 Games.

SECOND NEW NORM HOST SELECTION

2030 WINTER GAMES

For the 2030 Host Election, interested parties have been preparing candidatures as we know

Dec 2022  One or more candidatures will be elevated to Targeted Dialogue

Feb-Mar 2023  (approx.) About 2-3 months after Targeted Dialogue candidatures are announced in Dec,the Future Host Commission for the Winter Games can, based in the 2032 host selection timeline, be expected to make recommendation/s to the IOC Executive Board.  If the IOC Executive Board accepts the Commission’s  recommendation/s then a Host Election will occur at the next IOC Session.

May 2023   The 2030 Host Election (and possibly 2034 too) will occur following presentations by the candidate or candidates

Yes, you should take the time to read the facts.  It’s all on the public record.

Because then maybe you would not comtinue to peddle this tired, old ridiculous keyboard olympic conspiracy theory because you hate that the traditional wasteful old-bididng system has gone.

Oh stop being so patronising. Many of us here are very well-versed on the “new norm” and have great knowledge of how the bidding process worked in the past and works now. You’re not the only holder of the “True Word” - indeed you’ve been picked up on errors about he new norm yourself.

The only tired old conspiracy theory is your reaction to any comment that doesn’t paint the selection process of Brisbane, or of Brisbane itself, as “perfect”.

And your time line is no evidence against it.

Finally, Yes!

There is absolutely no evidence of your fast-tracking conspiracy theory in the timeline at all.

Three years 2018 to 2021 is not fast-tracking.

Nor is there any fast-tracking happening for 2030, seriously.  Stop this bs fast-tracking talk.

It never happened for 2032 and is not happening now for 2030.

It’s self-evident it was. You just can’t accept that because it doesn’t fit your narrative of “perfect” Brisbane.

And, no, I won’t stop. Just as I’m sure you won’t stop with your spamming of “new norm” cheerleading PR releases and Twitter links.

Nope, I'll make them my words too.  Because he's right.

First off, you're giving us this timeline and omitting these key dates..

22 May 2019 - Future Olympic Games elections to be more flexible

26 Jun 2019 - Evolution of the revolution: IOC transforms future Olympic Games elections

So your "evidence" of a timeline is already falsified.  We can argue semantics til we're blue in the face, but the fact we have a 2032 host before we have a 2030 host means that something is a little weird.  Let alone that the decision was made in the middle of a once in a century global pandemic that delayed the 2020 Olympics by a year.

This is not a conspiracy.  The IOC chose to fast-track an announcement of the 2032 host.  Nothing wrong with that other than it lacks the kind of transparency the IOC often likes to boast they're all about.  But let's also not pretend - to Rols' point - that the IOC couldn't "fast track" a 2030 host and name it sooner rather than later if they really wanted to

Nothing was fast-tracked. Nothing, not the announcement either.

Brisbane was merely the first New Norm Host selected.

The 2030 Host will be the second.

Get used to it, this is the New Norm.  Hosts may be selected out of calender year sequence.

LOL, leap-frogging from 2030 to award 2032 is not rushing things (aka 'fast-tracking')? Yeah, okay, whatever you say.

In addition, the IOC are now prepared to assess, select and elect Hosts well ahead of the old-7 years ahead timeline.

Brisbane’s election 11 years ahead of the Games followed LA2028’s election 11 years ahead.
