AliciasBlade Posted April 17, 2022 Report Posted April 17, 2022 Only city I found interested in hosting the 2031 Pan American Games is Winnipeg. Too small of a city compared to Santiago and Barranquilla tbh. Quote
SportLightning Posted April 18, 2022 Report Posted April 18, 2022 Winnipeg hosted the Pan American Games twice in 1967 and 1999. Quote
2018 Posted April 19, 2022 Report Posted April 19, 2022 If Winnipeg bids, its likely theirs to lose after three straight games in South America. Quote

I noticed a pattern where ever since Winnipeg hosted in 1999, the Pan American Games return to Canada. So maybe. Quote
SportLightning Posted April 20, 2022 Report Posted April 20, 2022 What about San Jose (Costa Rica), it would be fourth different country to be held in Central America. Quote

Canada is likely a favourite to balance out the Latin-American heavy schedule, especially as the US doesn't seem to want to host. Important consideration in my opinion. Quote
Celio Posted September 4, 2023 Report Posted September 4, 2023 The 2031 Pan American Games will be in Curitiba Quote

SportLightning Posted September 4, 2023 Report Posted September 4, 2023 That has not been confirmed. Curitiba is part of actually Rio de Janeiro's potential bid. Quote
Antony Posted October 20, 2023 Report Posted October 20, 2023 São Paulo officially announced its candidacy for the 2031 Pan American Games, it would be the second time hosting this event. Quote

SportLightning Posted November 1, 2023 Report Posted November 1, 2023 New monday, the Pan American Games Santiago 2023 draws to a close. But they still got one more for them is this month with the Parapan American Games. Quote
SportLightning Posted August 2, 2024 Report Posted August 2, 2024 Asuncion is interested of hosting the 2031 edition after losting the 2027 edition to Lima. https://rcc.com.py/deporte/paraguay-suena-en-grande-objetivo-juegos-olimpicos-de-la-juventud-2030-y-panamericanos-2031/ Quote
Mr.M15ter Posted August 10, 2024 Report Posted August 10, 2024 I made a draft WIkipedia page for the 2031 Pan American Games. Sao Paolo is the only official bidder with Winnipeg and Asuncion mulling it over. One news sources considered Charlotte as a possible host for the games. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:2031_Pan_American_Games Quote
FYI Posted August 13, 2024 Report Posted August 13, 2024 Lol, says the one that thought Asuncion was such a shoo-in for the 2027 edition. Okay lol Quote
FYI Posted August 13, 2024 Report Posted August 13, 2024 And actually, that would be great for the U.S. - A 2031 PanAm's between L.A. 2028 & SLC 2034. The last time the U.S. even bid for this was for the 2007 PanAms that were ultimately won by Rio. And the last time the U.S. hosted the PanAm's was in 1987 in Indianapolis. The PanAm's would be a perfect & suitable event for a city like Charlotte. Haven't really followed this, so don't know who else is really interested, but the fact the U.S. hasn't even hosted this for 44 years by 2031 should be a factor in Charlotte's favor. So yes, we'll just have to "wait & see" who ultimately gets this. Quote
Roger87 Posted August 14, 2024 Report Posted August 14, 2024 Miami can work perfectly as Pan Am host. It's home of some of the biggest Latino communities (Cuba, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Venezuela, Argentina). Also it has the biggest French/French Creolle community from Haiti and Miami has become the hub of the some relevant sport figures. The weather is an issue, but at difference of the Olympics, Pan Am is more flexible of the schedules (They did with Guadalajara, Lima and Santiago). Also if they want, imagine having Lionel Messi, Caleb Dressler, LeBron James, Oscar Isaac and Anya Taylor-Joy as city ambassadors. Quote

There is an advantage in not having to build new structures, and we already have experience in major events. Today we formalized our pre-candidacy, but we will build a dossier that meets the demands of the Pan American Games. At the same time, we will look at the legacy of the event. I spoke with Rodrigo (Neves), and the Village will be in the Port Zone, to enhance the central region of Rio and be close to Niterói. The COB will have a proposal that meets the sporting requirements and leaves a legacy" — explained Paes, who jokingly booed São Paulo's candidacy, mentioned by Paulo Wanderley. Quote
