AustralianFan Posted April 4, 2022 Author Report Posted April 4, 2022 The Sydney International Regatta Centre in Penrith is a sentimental favourite of mine from Sydney 2000. 25 years later in 2025, it will host the World Rowing Championships. A magical atmosphere and venue: Quote
ulu Posted April 4, 2022 Report Posted April 4, 2022 There was also some talk last year about hosting the World Athletics Championships before 2032. Quote

Bear Posted May 29, 2022 Report Posted May 29, 2022 This list may expand further as Australia is now interested in hosting the Special Olympics World Games in 2027... https://www.specialolympics.org/stories/news/special-olympics-australia-announces-formal-bid-to-host-2027-world-games-in-perth Quote Special Olympics Australia Announces Formal Bid to Host 2027 World Games in Perth Dr. Timothy Shriver, Chairman of the Special Olympics International Board of Directors, has called upon governments, businesses, philanthropists and the local community to rally behind Australia’s bid to host the 2027 Special Olympics World Games in Perth. The Special Olympics World Games have never been held in the Southern Hemisphere and could attract more than 8,000 athletes from over 170 countries. Over 500,000 spectators would be expected to attend. The financial benefit to the Perth economy would be monumental. Over $200 million in economic benefits as well as legacy goals across the areas of inclusion, health, education, employment and justice could be on the line. Tanya Brown, a member of the Special Olympics Australia Board and Chair of the World Games 2027 Bid Committee welcomed the call to action from Dr. Tim Shriver. “To hear Dr. Shriver’s personal invitation for Australia to bid to host the most inclusive humanitarian event in the world is exciting in our journey to become a more inclusive and welcoming society. It is fitting for such a sport-loving nation that, through the catalyst of sport, we can achieve systemic change for our nation and change views, change lives, change our nation and change the world.” The bid has been developed over the last two years and will officially be submitted in July. The Special Olympics International Board of Directors will select the host of the Special Olympics World Games 2027 in November and a public announcement will be made at a later date. Victorian Posted January 3 Report Posted January 3 Following Victoria withdrawing from hosting the 2026 Commonwealth Games (now Glasgow), 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championships (now Adelaide), and not bidding for the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2026, Victoria will now miss out on hosting ANY matches during the 2027 Men's Rugby World Cup. The MCG was thought to be a contender for the Final but now Victoria will not host not even a SINGLE MATCH. This is due to a protest from the Victorian Government as our local team, the Melbourne Rebels were axed from the domestic national competition. As someone who lives in Victoria, this news is quite devastating . Another major sporting event that we will not be able to host. Quote
