baron-pierreIV Posted April 2, 2022 Report Posted April 2, 2022 So, can the women Volleyball players compete in bikinis? Will the other women swim in their usual suits? Or will they have developed new apps that will "clothe" these scantily-clad female athletes for Saudi Arabian TV cameras and iPhones?? Quote

Probably their usual team uniforms. But remember this will be Saudi Arabia's first time hosting the Asian Games. Quote
baron-pierreIV Posted April 4, 2022 Report Posted April 4, 2022 Just now, SportLightning said: Probably their usual team uniforms. But remember this will be Saudi Arabia's first time hosting the Asian Games. You don't get my question, do you? Or don't you realize that centuries of being the MOST CONSERVATIVE muslim country in the world -- where women are still considered 2nd class human beings in the 21st century -- will be put to a test in thier hosting? Or will they pay lip service now ("Yeah, we're OK with women in bikinis for beach volleyball . . . and then, two weeks before the Games begin, issue an edict that having women play in scanty outfits on their "sacred" Arabian soil is anathema to their religion and therefore will be banned. And again, ANOTHER sports federation has been fooled by shifty and unreliable Arabs? And what has the ". . . first-time hosting" got to do with my original question -- and how the Games are conducted? Quote

But they were in the 2030/2034 bid in Spring 2020 along with Doha (Qatar) and they were only two candidates in the running after Philippines, India, South Korea, Uzbekistan and Chinese Taipei missed out the deadline. On 14 December 2020, about 95% of Riyadh and 91% of Saudi population supported the city's hosting the 2030 Asian Games bid, according to a survey conducted by local market research and data analysis firm DRC. baron-pierreIV Posted April 4, 2022 Report Posted April 4, 2022 If the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, SBM, has journalists (originating from his country but became a US citizen) killed on foreign soil, do you think the Saudi gov't gives a rat's ass about (ALL) the rights of women's athletes come Games time? They just want this honor to burnish their image but I seriously doubt they will honor the rules of internationla play 100%. I would be thoroughly surprised. You gotta wake up, kid. Also, they are very influential in the AOC ranks, hence they were chosen. Quote
