Again, naive Estanguet says Paris 2024 ticket sales system will be unlike those in the past.

Paris 2024 plan to sell half of 13.4 million tickets via central platform (insidethegames.biz)

Can someone explain to me how it will be different AND work?  They haven't even tested it -- to make sure it's viable -- and they've announced it already?  What about counterfeiting and re-sales?  Why reinvent a very complicated wheel when it's worked in the past?

I hope I am wrong - but I can just see this failing -- and it'll take MONTHS to fix it.

I wonder if Trump's Sure-failed "Truth-Social" platform is responsible for Paris 2024's latest folly?

miles, this is an issue im not familiar with it,

but you say "counterfeiting and re-sales"

is this possible with digital tickets for example

does e-ticketing and QR-codes have loopholes in the net

just asking purely to know

It will work something more like how olympic tickets were always sold at the host country before, by the organizers. So, no international resellers to hassle you anymore; you buy from Paris 2024 directly and no more CoSport, in your USA case, being a middle man. I think the Fifa World Cup ticketing works in a similar way, if i recall correctly. This means there will be no travel packages by those resselers, but if i also recall correctly the IOC did hire their own hospitality program.

Whatever they do, Paris are probably on a hiding to nothing when it comes to ticketing. I expect this will be a games with high demand for tickets, which means one thing - the media will only be too happy to fan the flames of outrage of 40 million people who can’t get their personal tickets to the 100m final. Sydney and London send their wishes for the best.

That said, I do have some concerns over this. In the odd (and at this stage highly unlikely) chance I get to make it to the Paris games, my usual ticket sources may not be as reliable this time as in the past.

I guess my main wonder is with so many vagueries of world events happening almost one over another, buying tix to a global event 24 months before seems so uncertain.  There are war and pandemics.  I would think Olymphiles can only make certain plans once we reach 2024 itself.  And then of course, I'd be curious to see how Paris 2024 will restrain hotel room prices -- or will AirB&N step in??

"Make Your Own Games"?   Will it be successful or a TOTAL FLOP?

Have they even tested it?  Or will the site crash within the first 3 days?

I bet it's going to be a total cock-up!!    And they will have to redesign the whole program 6 months before July '24.

Well, the Paris 2024 draws supposedly start tomorrow for the "Make Your Own Games" 3 event packages.  Let's see how this goes (if it goes).  I'm just happy not to have to deal with the horrible CoSport again.

I will have a time window as from tomorrow.

Let‘s see what will really be available.

Anyway, I‘m quite confident I can find a direct TGV ride from here (6 h) but accomodation may be more of a concern. Might need to activate some French work connections.

I did not get anything - the tickets available were very limited - not all sports and only a few early sessions for each sport, plus you have to buy 3 minimum events and most are the higher category pricing. 6 tickets for 3 events was going to cost me nearly 2000 NZD and these were sessions/events that I wasnt even wanting to get.

Ceremonies not available.

I wanted Gymnastics Rhythmic - this event was unavailable to purchase - Tennis, ony a few sessions up to second round - Artistic Gymnastics only a few early sessions.

I will wait for the single ticket sales in May.

But that‘s what was always said: no ceremonies and only limited sessions for these packages.

Sorry that it didn‘t work out for you. Will see what happens in my time window opening later.

Update: Got some, but not all that I wanted (no Judo), so Trampoline plus Hockey/Volleyball preliminaries for now (and only one package, creating more would have meant spending too much money on things I‘d be much less interested in).

i finally got selected but i fear that everything left will be too expensive :( time to start saving up for LA instead

Like in phase 1, they’re not coming all in one go.

Got it.  Missed phase 1.  Based on the last phase, how many days after the 9th should folks be checking their Junk mail for these invites?

Got into my second round draw.  Surprising number of tickets still available.  Appears that some premium events have sold out, along with some events that are more locally popular (like fencing), and the cheaper tickets were gone for most things.  But I was able to get Gymnastics finals tickets, along with 3 other events I wanted.  So, along with the 3 events I had from the first round, and the Athletics tickets I'm expecting from my friends (Athletics also seemed to be pretty available on the sales site, for A & B class tickets), I think I'm set.  This may the earliest I've ever been able to do finish the ticketing off, and with the best range of events.  Now for accommodations, airfare, etc...

Just got into my second shopping round.

Pretty sad to see that some “fringe” sports I wanted to catch (judo, archery) were all gone for the time window I’ll be there, and some other events only had A class seats left for prices I’m really not willing to pay. So, in the end I just added one of the canoe slalom finals.

For the locals: would it make sense to go to Disney in the morning and then hop over to the canoe course, as it’s not far away by public transport?

Got drawn into Phase 1 (missed out due to time difference and work).  Also got drawn to Phase 2.  This time,I was successful.  Was hoping for Paris region, but pleasantly surprised & disappointed at the selection available.  Got tickets to Basketball in Lille and rowing in Vaires-sur-Marne.

Got accommodations near Lille and also in paris region.  Now I just need to worry about airfare/train and subway tickets

I did hear there will be any remaining tickets at end of 2023
