Sir Rols
Has anybody else noticed that one of the old image-hosting sites that must have been used by quite a few members here seems to have either been co-opted by the Ukrainian cyber resistance or replaced some of their older hosted pics with their own message? I’m clicking on some old threads with posts by old members and seeing lots of sigs like this:
munichfan
It's not even untrue. As of September 2007, there was NO WAR in Ukraine. Some sites have replaced the content with bland sort of filler pics (usually their logo) after a year or so. So I guess, it's just that. A nice way to place a message. Good on them for being so courageous and supporting the people of Ukraine. These may end up being the first political refugees. Go up in a Russian spacecraft, come down in another country’s shuttle. I wonder which country in the International Space Station programme, apart from Russia, be willing to bring these 3 Russian cosmonauts and into political refugee status in that or another friendly country? I don’t think we can read too much into it: Quote Russian cosmonauts on the International Space Station have rejected claims their yellow and blue flight suits are a nod to Ukraine, and have expressed support for their president. Cosmonauts Oleg Artemyev, Denis Matveyev and Sergey Korsakov, of Russian space corporation Roscosmos, docked at the ISS late on Friday. Their uniforms - bright yellow with blue accents, sparked immediate questions about whether it was tacit message of support. Shortly after arriving Artemyev was asked and said the crew had just “accumulated a lot of yellow material so we needed to use it”. In a follow up statement published on the Russian space agency’s Telegram channel, he again urged people to not “look for any hidden signs or symbols” in the suits. “A colour is simply a colour. It is not in any way connected to Ukraine. Otherwise, we would have to recognise its rights to the yellow sun in the blue sky. “These days, even though we are in space, we are together with our president and our people!” He gave a different reason for the choice this time - saying the crew chose the colours of the prestigious Bauman Moscow State Technical University, of which all three are graduates. Still, I wonder how much TV coverage they got in Russia

Sir Rols
Quote "Unfortunately, in recent years, an increasing number of major international competitions have been marked by events that are incompatible with sports, with its spirit and character," said Putin in his video message quoted in Russia’s official state news agency TASS. "We have repeatedly witnessed dubious biased refereeing and slander, hostile antics and outright provocations, we have seen how the ideas of Pierre de Coubertin himself were methodically distorted and distorted, the once sacred principles of sports were eroded. "Literally before our eyes, equality has turned into perverse tolerance, justice into double standards, and the fight for purity in sports into a politically engaged dictatorship of the anti-doping bureaucracy." I just can’t believe the breathtaking hypocrisy of those words

Guilga
Quote Russia launches rival bid to host Euro 2028 or 2032 amid Ukraine invasion Associated Press Facebook Twitter Facebook Messenger Pinterest Email Russia is launching a bid to host the 2028 European Championship in a challenge to the British Isles entry or against Italy for the 2032 edition, despite its teams being suspended from international competitions over the war in Ukraine. A meeting of the Russian Football Union (RFU) executive committee decided on Wednesday to "support the decision to declare interest" in the 2028 and 2032 tournaments, the organisation said in a statement ahead of the deadline for expressions of interest to be submitted to UEFA. - FIFA suspends Russia: What it means & how it works It was unclear when the bid would be submitted or if the country would specify if it preferred to host in 2028 or 2032. "We are going to file a bid for hosting of the 2028 and 2032 European Championships," RFU board member Sergei Anokhin said on broadcaster Match TV. Russia hosted the 2018 World Cup and the venue for the final -- Luzhniki Stadium -- was used last week for a rally supporting President Vladimir Putin. "We are sending the declaration today," Dyukov said. "We assume that Russia is already prepared to to host large-scale competitions. We have the experience." Russia's unlikely plan is sure to face fierce opposition. Poland, Sweden and the Czech Republic had independently announced they would refuse to play Russia in World Cup qualifying even on neutral territory -- ahead of FIFA's decision to suspend Russia. UEFA will provide the tournament requirements to bidders next Wednesday and then confirm their candidacies on April 5. The deadline to submit final bid dossiers is not until April 2023, with a decision by the UEFA executive committee in September 2023. "We reserve the right to enter a bid," Dyukov said. "This option doesn't cost anything. And you can't refuse it, if it isn't expensive." The British Isles bid is being led by England and also features Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. https://www.espn.com/soccer/uefa-european-championship/story/4623943/russia-launch-rival-bid-to-host-euro-2028-or-2032-amid-ukraine-invasion They will try that indeed.
