The IOC has responded to the complaints from the Russians:

Bach claims IOC has taken protective approach in recommending exclusion of Russian and Belarusian athletes - 11March2022 - Inside The Games

“International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach has said the organisation has taken a protective approach by recommending the exclusion of Russian and Belarusian athletes from international events, following the invasion of Ukraine.”

“The IOC President justified the decision to exclude Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions.”

“He argued the participation of athletes from the nations, while Ukrainians were absent due to the conflict, would have left events at risk of politicisation by athletes and teams.”

And he tells you this on open social media?  Haven't they shut down FB-Meta and Twitter already?

Just the regular telephone... Believe or not, they still exist.

Bit galling seeing Bubka repositioning himself as a Ukrainian patriot after being one of the country’s most pro-Russians for so long.

So it’s just being reported here, that Russia has struck an area in Western Ukraine near Lviv, very close to the Polish (NATO) border.

Also being reported, that Russia has asked China for military aide. It’s that so rich of Pootin, when he has said that no other countries should be ‘meddling’ in Ukraine.

I guess Pootin wants to take the newly “no limits” relationship with China to the very next level after only just a few weeks since Beijing 2022.

China and Russia hosted the Paralympics only because it was a requirement for hosting the olympic Games. if Russia China could hide it enough they would easily exterminate all of their disabled citizens. Sad but true.

What the …..

Come on, you cannot seriously believe that Russia and China would like to exterminate their own disabled citizens?

Sorry mate, that’s no where near true and a little out of left field and whacky to be honest.

The China government and Russia government may be disliked by many but there’s no evidence to support your theory about these governments wanting to exterminate people with disabilities.

China hosted

  • 2007 Special Olympics - Shanghai
  • 2008 Summer Paralympics - Beijing
  • 2022 Winter Paralympics - Beijing

Russia :

  • 2014 Winter Paralympics - Sochi
  • 2023 was to host the Special Olympics in Kazan but now cancelled

Totally agree with you.  Like Nazi Germany, their mindset is "imperfect human beings" are liabilities who will drag "progress" down.  Just impediments.  China is ANOTHER giant hypocrite.

I'm out on this one.

While Russia's acting on foreign territories (and China's, too, to a degree) seems to mimic late 1930'ies Germany and they clearly are decades behind other countries in terms of inclusion, I fail to see such a totalitarian approach towards people with disabilities in these countries.

China and Russia are among the most successful Paralympic participants of this century and have made serious efforts even when not hosting (the exception being China for the winter editions, but frankly, they didn't care too much about winter sports at all until recently). Of course, it's just a very small glimpse at the lives of people with disabilities in these countries, but of a country that is only prevented to "get rid of" their disabled by international observation, I would not expect any significant envolvement at all.

As I do have very limited insight only and cannot rule out they are all out breeding their "Übermensch" in Moscow and Beijing by just doing some quick internet research, I will go with an in dubio pro reo approach on this one until I see believeable support for your theory.

Absolutely agree.

I abhor and detest the governments and policies of Russia, China, the lunatic president in Brazil and the previous joke of a usa president 2016-2020.

However,  there is not the slightest evidence of any Russia and China policies wanting to exterminate their own citizens with disabilities.  Seriously, that’s just nonsense.

I didn't think I'd agree with @AustralianFan for once, but there is a line between rightfully criticizing a regime and the horrors it sets onto this planet, and just purposely dehumanizing an enemy. And I fear that in this case, this is getting dangerously close to that line.

That’s definitely more than fair. It’s not like China and Russia don’t already have enough dirty human rights abuses - from Uyghur concentration camps to anti-gay pogroms in Chechnya - to need to manufacture more.
