Good to see this excellent further action taken in a video conference, hosted by UK, of international sports ministers:

Sports Ministers from 26 nations have agreed to ban athletes from Russia and Belarus from international sports games held in their countries due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.”

“Representatives from the United States, Lithuania, Australia, Japan, Ireland, South Korea, Canada, France and Poland were among those in attendance.”

“Others on the call hailed from Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Sweden and Switzerland.“

You all know what that´s mean if Russia decides to ensure that they will continue being agressors until 2024, right? Oh boy, we have one nation eliminated from the Olympics already.

Quote
Volleyball World Opens Accelerated Bidding Process For Relocated FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship 2022Deadline for bids to be submitted is Monday 14 March 2022

Volleyball World has launched the accelerated bidding process today for the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship 2022 that was removed from Russia due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. Volleyball World expects substantial interest for this opportunity to host the best men’s volleyball teams in the world.

All National Federations and  potential host nation(s) are invited to submit their bid to host the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship 2022.

Interested National Federations and/or event organisers can now submit their bids by no later than 14 March 2022 to event.hosting@volleyball.world . The bidding form can be found at the Volleyball World hosting page here.

The FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship will see 24 nations compete for the ultimate goal of becoming the world champions.

Following the approval of the FIVB Board of Administration and in consultation with media partners and key stakeholders, the competition formula for the event has been optimised. The new formula foresees maintaining the round robin format of the pool phase with six pools of four teams.

However, a total of sixteen teams – the top two teams of each pool and four best third-placed teams – will then qualify for the knockout phase of the competition. This knockout phase will feature the round of 16, quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals. As such, there will be a total of 52 matches played over the course of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.

The adapted event formula allows for the consideration of multiple hosts for the pool phase, up to two hosts for the round of 16 and quarterfinals, and a maximum of one host for the semi-finals and finals.

So, we have here a side effect of Russia being stripped their right to host the Men´s Volleyball World Champioship this year; as they announced their bidding process to find a new host, FIVB also changed their tournament format from a abomination with three group stages, the last one being a egregious crime, to an actually sensible format.

I agree with banning russia form hosting basically anything, having the opportunity of receiving money from any source, and participating in anything involving the international community as long as Mr KGB is in charge of the federation. But if in one point russia gets rid of him, will all this bans and limitation towards russian CIVILIANS still take place?, because some of the sanctions has came in the long term for a problem that can be solved on the short term, and aren't even actually afecting directly the government itself, like c'mon banning russian breeds from cats contest, that's not even a sanction, that's just ridiculous

IF they got rid of him, I guess that would depend on what replaced him.

But, for arguments sake, IF he was toppled, and IF his successor repudiated his military adventurism, allowed Ukraine and other neighbours to live in peace and rule themselves, and Russia started behaving as a respectable global citizen, then yes, of course sanctions would be rolled back.

Actions like this, even the cat contests, are necessary because isolating Russia and stifling its economy are among the few ways the west has to try and directly influence developments within Russia by trying to convince the population that Putin isn’t doing them any good and they’d be better off without him. Ultimately, it’s the Russian people who will need to get rid of Putin.

It‘s simple:

Stop the war.

Pull back Russian troops from all the internationally recognised territory of Ukraine (incl Crimea and the separatist puppet states).

Pay for the reconstruction.

Then there can be ways to talk about lifting sanctions or even having fair referendum in Crimea etc.

Until then: pariah state, with or without the guy.

Really? Tulsi has that backwards. She seems so confused, IDK what her deal is really. She's always on FAUX News talking nonsense. So I'd take anything that comes out of her mouth with a grain of salt.

BTW, your link didn't work. Looks like it was in Turkish, so wouldn't have been able to read it anyway.

I don't know why this NON-entity still gets any airtime at all.  Can't be a slow day for news.

It's on FAUX news, though. They have her on there a lot lately, like on Pucker's show, because she's bashing the Biden administration, & of course that's what they live for & love over there. Trash the Democrats all they can, while their party is looking to grow more & more fascist with each passing day without batting an eyelash.

Yeah, thanks. I just played it. And that was indeed from a FAUX news TV show that she was on a couple of weeks ago.

But quite frankly, she looses all credibility the moment she utters that the Biden administration "arrests political opposition  & 'shuts down' TV stations that are speaking out against him".

Yet there she is, on one of the most repulsive FAUX channel TV personalities show, going all out against the Biden administration. Go f'n figure. And never mind how many of Trump's political opponents were treated badly.

She's an Assad apologist. Nothing more needs to be said. I'm entirely unsurprised she's crawled out to do more apologism on behalf of another dictator.

The funny thing is, that she's a Democrat, & a lot of her political views, & policies that she was for when she was running for president, are what many Republicans would be against nonetheless. Yet hypocritical FAUX News has no problem having her on now, & using her simply because she's criticizing & attacking the Biden administration. And that's what they love over there no matter which Democrat is in the White House. That's just par-for-the-course over at FAUX News. Though, listening to her talk, it's obvious she has some marbles loose anyway.
