Rob2012 Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 I actually think this ceremony will look very good cut up for tomorrow's news bulletins. But as a whole it's been incoherent and hasn't really clicked. Ambition overriding reality. 1 Quote
Olympian2004 Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 Sorry, but this is the most anti-climatic cauldron lighting in Olympic history. Unless they pull a stunning special effect out of the hat as soon as they FINALLY reach that cauldron. But this takes forever. What a wasted opportunity. I would have lit a smaller cauldron in front of the Eiffel Tower and lit the main cauldron in the Tuileries later, just like Vancouver and Tokyo did. Quote
Olympic Fan Darcy Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 Another tennis player. At least Mauresmo makes sense as a Frenchwoman. Quote

There are many beautiful ideas in this ceremony, but is it is like someone asked which should we keep and tie the program together into a cohesive whole, which ones? ... And jolly replied YES Give the Games to Istanbul and see the true meaning of the word MAGİCAL at the opening ceremony heheheh Quote

Citius Altius Fortius Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 I believe now that the cauldron is on top of the obelisk on place de la Concorde Quote
Ikarus360 Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 Kinda depressing to see this last relay lasting so much and without people to cheer on and watch it. Quote

They have more than 300,000 spectators along the Seine, and they didn't even manage to move a few thousands of them to the Tuileries in order to create some cheering and applause and thus a bit more suspense and atmosphere? My God, this is really amateurish. Quote
Rob2012 Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 In the future, everyone will be a Paris torchbearer for 15 minutes. Quote

Olympic Fan Darcy Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 Count how many times you see photographers in the background. This is woeful. And so sad that nobody is there to see this. Empty. What were they thinking? Quote
Rob2012 Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 (edited) Lovely, but please get him out of the rain now! Edited July 26 by Rob2012 Quote
