Olympian2004 Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 The light show around the Eiffel Tower might be the best of this ceremony. But once again, the segment is too much drawn out. It takes away all the excitement from the final torch relay and the lighting of the cauldron. It just doesn't work if the several locations of that ceremony are so far apart from each other. Los Angeles has to get back to the drawing board, I guess, since they want to stage their opening ceremony at the Coliseum and the SoFi Stadium. They should rather concentrate on the Coliseum. Quote
sebastien1214 Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 Just now, Aussie bum said: Im so confussed. Why have the eiffel tower and put on such an amazing light show and then take the flame away on another long journey. Do it in front of the tower!! This better be worth it because the cauldron is at the Louvre, not the Eiffel Tower Quote
Olympic Fan Darcy Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 This is so poorly organised I feel better about Brisbane now. All the way to take people to the Eiffel Tower only to leave?? Quote

FYI Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 Savannah Guthrie just said: "despite the rain, I think it has added a little bit of magic to this". And I agree with her. I think it gave it a bit of Phantom of the Opera vibe (like I mentioned towards the start). Quote

olympian.br Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 Who's the random (?) guy dancing? This is so aleatory lol. Quote
Ikarus360 Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 Light Show at Eiffel is very impressive. Probably one of the best parts of the show. Quote
emre Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 now we have a homeless guy dancing infront of the eiffel... so creative Quote
Olympic Fan Darcy Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 Can easily say this is the worst opening ceremony I’ve seen both summer and winter. And it’s not close. 1 Quote
Olympic Fan Darcy Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 This random guy dancing? What is this cheap crap? No wonder why Macron looked so mad. 1 Quote
Michelle Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 This light show is impressive. But also boring! This segment has been too long. Very poor! Quote
Juso Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 At least we now don't have an Olympics in Dubai to know what their opening ceremony will look like. There are many beautiful ideas in this ceremony, but is it is like someone asked which should we keep and tie the program together into a cohesive whole, which ones? ... And jolly replied YES Quote

And the audience at Trocadero got only about 15 minutes worth of ceremony. Not counting the speeches and the continued light show at Eiffel Tower. But the main action is always taking place away from them. I guess that Anna Wintour is really piss*d now. And Serena Williams looked as if she is going to puke on that boat. That would be definite low point of this ceremony. Quote
kevzz Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 Gosh this is just painful. The timing is so off! When the hell are they going to arrive? Quote
JMarkSnow2012 Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 The lighting on the Seine boat isn't as bling as the lighting on Beckham's 2012 Thames boat Quote
Olympic Fan Darcy Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 Also the whole point is to follow the olympic torch and instead we are watching a random guy dance. Why is this so bad? You had 7 years Paris!!! Quote
mr.bernham Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 Nobody: Paris: > Brings the Athletes to the Eiffel Tower > Lights the cauldron on the complete opposite side of town Quote
Scotguy II Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 I think this weekend i am going to watch Barcelona- Atlanta - Sydney ceremonies, get myself some real action Quote
