zigzag Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 That US boat was HUGE, it almost looked like it's overcrowded Quote
Olympian2004 Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 At least Tahiti has wonderful sunshine for the opening ceremony. Quote
rio2016man Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 US contingent taking 1 whole boat with Lebron at the the helm Quote
baron-pierreIV Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 I bet Flame-Thief will be Marcel Marceau or Emmanule Macron! Quote

baron-pierreIV Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 I don't know why they don't say 'from Paris to Papeete"? Quote
FYI Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 With the U.S boat going by, you can now see the rain really coming down. Quote
sebastien1214 Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 France. With Johnny Hallyday on background. Que je t'aime, que je t'aime. (the lyrics of the song played) Quote

Cheapest tickets for the OC usually like $2000 USD, State De France fits 80,000.... Hundreds of millions lost. I thought they were charging for locations with an actual view ... Quote
Ikarus360 Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 I forgot about this weird new tradition of having the next host nations marching last alongside the current host. Quote

Olympian2004 Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 Now that the ceremony is lacking emotional climaxes so much (even the introduction of the French team felt underwhelming), I start to take offence in seeing the "flame thief" so often. It takes away the ultimate emotional climax from the ceremony, namely the appearance of the Olympic torch and then, the lighting of the cauldron. And it just looked just sad how she or he took those somersaults on that rain-soaked catwalk. Quote
Red Centaur Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 Looks better at night. The rain is helping the lighting effects. Quote
FYI Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 So what happened with Israel when their boat went by? Were they booed or not or both? I can't recall (unless NBC didn't show it, or maybe it was during a commercial break). Quote

Not much to be read into it, but perhaps it was louder for others and in person. Quote
baron-pierreIV Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 Wow! THey're all soaked!! Imagine all the DAMP, rumpled uniforms hanging back in the Village?!? Quote
sebastien1214 Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 The European flag. Because yes, in France, we also love our European friends. Even the United Kingdom, which wanted to leave the family. Quote
