This OC has been incredibly bad up until now. Everything looks like a cheap local parade

it is exactly a parade. not sure it really translates to an OC.

There's about 145 minutes to go. Be patient!

The camera work is letting this ceremony down.

I honestly don’t think it’s that. It’s the fact it’s raining and the skies are dark and gloomy. If it had been sunny earlier with blue skies, this ceremony would have translated better.

Weather plays a big part undeniably. But i feel if the direction, editing between live and prerecorded clips and live camerawork is properly thought through, this can be a fabulous ceremony. But it’s completely letdown by this and it’s hard to follow on tv by what’s happening.

A slight overreaction. lots more to come!

Yes, but will those who paid for places at the Eiffel Tower be in a better position to appreciate  it than those who stayed at home?

I think some set piece was due to happen at the end of the Marseillaise (drones maybe?) but the rain is a problem. They stayed on that picture of the sky for a long time. I'm enjoying this even so :)

It would be better without rain. And according to the radar is going to get much worse.

When it comes to live events, "much worse" weather usually means more fun!

I'm not that sure about it, a nicer weather would surely help make this a better experience but the camera work would still hold this back, it's that terrible.

Couldn't the CBC get better announcers? What's her name sounds like Mike Tyson and cant say her "S"esss and turning them into "Th". Annoying.

I’m notice a struggle with scale. Paris is BIG - and the performers / performances are getting lost or struggling to have impact within their settings.

it's also just SLOW. i like when the artistic elements follow each other directly for more cohesion.

Do you know who would be having a field day with the Opening Ceremony? Graham Norton

Which is probably exactly why the BBC chose not to include him in the commentary team!

Y'all making me enjoy this just to spite all y'all.

Hi @Michelle How's Gamesbids' favourite Belgian? Hope you have been well all these long years of your absence.

Very well, thank you. Hope you’re doing well too

glad you’re enjoying this ceremony. I think it’ll get better when it gets darker and the lights play a bigger part with the Eiffel Tower in all its glory later.

I'm not bored. Baffled in parts, not quite sure what I'm making of this. But there's enough happening to keep me entertained.

I’m with that. There’s been some great parts, but not flowing that smoothly. The music selection has been superb, and no doubt will continue. Sunshine would have given it more of a lustre, though.

Yeah, I’m waiting now for night to fall and the lighting to take over
