C'est MAGNIFIQUE!I LUV it so FAR!!  Great job, Paris 2024 & NBC!!  At least it all comes together on the pre-packged NBC- version I am seeing!

We should probably be celebrating the fact that it's even possible to watch the ceremony live in the US.

The awful weather doesn't help the optics either, but that was of course beyond the organisers' control.

No it wasn't. Beijing was controlling the weather way back in 2008.

I appreciate the way they've done this but I usually like to have a cheeky nap during the parade of nations and now I can't.

Me too.

at least it gives a good segue to type.

i thought it was starting to get momentum with that last, largish cultural segment. Lots of items to like in there. Just a little disjointed switching between the boats and the entertainment.

Paris is still looking a lovely backdrop despite the rain.

Altho my brother is perplexed -- and he's going to Paris in September.

I really feel sorry for the athletes have to soak in the rain. I hope they won’t get sick and affect their performance.

Well, I am glad that making clouds rain with the help of chemicals is apparently not in fashion in France. ;)

Wow, I'm shocked!  But I agree with you ;) (even with the rain. Gives it a Phantom of the Opera vibe)!

Christ that Eswatini boat looks wobbly.

Hi Rob

The boat matches the state of the country.

The guy playing the piano is playing the same piece as during the climax of Impressions de France at Epcot.

Very true, rain or shine it's a stunning city. It's almost fitting really.

Just sad for those spectators who've probably been queuing and waiting for hours (and years really) and for the athletes having to endure the cold and wet!

i think they're more nervous if they play an outdoor sport tbh.
