What a lovely image: Parisiens standing on their own balconies, decorated with the flags of the participating nations, watching an Olympic opening ceremony right in front of their doorsteps. Really a unique moment in Olympic history.

I knew this ceremony was breaking many molds but seeing the flame right away at the start of the ceremony was something i did not expected

I guess that the concept of the ceremony allows all the athletes to be seated first and then watch the artistic presentation together with the spectators. In the classical stadium setting, that was not possible (usually) because the infield was needed for the artistic presentation first before the athletes could enter it.

I'm putting it back because it will disappear quickly: the parade of athletes will not be in ONE BLOCK. It is divided into several blocks, and between these blocks, pieces of spectacle.
