Even if I still think that Beethoven is currently twirling in his grave because they are pretending to be a harmony-loving regime with his music... We love living in denial. China isn’t committing genocide! They’re just hosting an Olympic Games. Putin who was at the opening ceremony isn’t planning something sinister with Ukrsine. Let’s just pretend. Quote
TorchbearerSydney Posted February 20, 2022 Report Posted February 20, 2022 Q: What a waste of time: the atletes where on the stage and newly go to their seats Was a nice idea, but it is like herding cats now.... Quote

Oh, well, he was working for the undemocratic regime of one of the most censoring imperialistic empires of his time, after all. 1 Quote

Due to the lower number of athletes, it is easier to seat them all and leave the infield empty for the performances there. 1 Quote

A few days from now, we might not be in the mood to laugh about it anymore. I say hilarious to take away from the severity of the situation. It’s crazy, I love the Olympics but the whole situation is cooked. Xi telling Putin to wait to invade til the Olympics are over and everyone is home, it’s so obvious. Quote
zigzag Posted February 20, 2022 Report Posted February 20, 2022 I'm still confused with the music, Modern China? You mean classical Europe musics? 1 Quote
yoshi Posted February 20, 2022 Report Posted February 20, 2022 Presidential binoculars lol - and it sounds like John Hunt is getting slightly fed up Quote

I didn't know that, to be honest. But I hope that he still had other intentions than the empire Quote

It's the new Winter Olympic tradition: peace between Russia & Ukraine until just after the Closing Ceremony 1 Quote

JMarkSnow2012 Posted February 20, 2022 Report Posted February 20, 2022 Seriously? Apparently I've already used up my quota of reaction emojis. Quote
Olympian2004 Posted February 20, 2022 Report Posted February 20, 2022 Yes, I have the same problem. A bit silly, but okay... Quote
Olympian2004 Posted February 20, 2022 Report Posted February 20, 2022 Considering how much these Games were hampered by strong wind, it is funny how there seems not the slightest bit of wind in the stadium and they have to use the ventilators to keep the flags flying... Quote
JMarkSnow2012 Posted February 20, 2022 Report Posted February 20, 2022 All the medallists cheerfully putting their masks back on for a group-hug photo ... Quote

Nacholympic Posted February 20, 2022 Report Posted February 20, 2022 Hello guys!!! Entering to the discussion... 9.40 Chilean time. The ceremony seems a bit boring up to here, the introduction too short! Quote
Nacholympic Posted February 20, 2022 Report Posted February 20, 2022 I thought they were le panels again in the public but they are red lanterns, remind me a bit the segment "Furusato" of Nagano 1998 closing ceremony. Quote
Olympian2004 Posted February 20, 2022 Report Posted February 20, 2022 For this magnificent piece alone instead of the national anthem they should keep Russia partially banned. 3 Quote
Ikarus360 Posted February 20, 2022 Report Posted February 20, 2022 Just woke up and started to watch it. And I see an almost full podium of Russians wearin the russian flag in their arms. Nice "ban", Bach.. Quote
Nacholympic Posted February 20, 2022 Report Posted February 20, 2022 Shame on Russia to hear Tchaikovsky instead of their anthem... A master piece used as "punishment" Oh, those Russians!!!! Quote
munichfan Posted February 20, 2022 Report Posted February 20, 2022 They should have used "Moskau" by Dschingis Khan as their anthem replacement. Quote
Olympian2004 Posted February 20, 2022 Report Posted February 20, 2022 I don't know whether they do that song a favour by displaying its tacky lyrics on the screen... Quote
munichfan Posted February 20, 2022 Report Posted February 20, 2022 Oh, they can't refrain from that stuff, can they? Volunteer from Hong Kong among those currently on stage apparently... Quote
