With the recent return of Fatixx, it got me wondering what has happened to some of the past members who used to contribute lots to the site. The members i could think of in particular are:

@Lee @Citizen-Seth @paul @aismanggo @afiqnadzir @Mainad @daveypodmore @cormiermax and @thatsnotmypuppy

Anyone know what has become of them? hopefully none have succumb to COVID :(

Of those, I can tell you:

Seth is happy and partnered… and writing a wine column in the US

Afiq I follow on Facebook. Happily married

Yoshi and I were both surprised Paul didn’t show up at the last moment for the logo comp. Just looked and hasn’t looked in March last year

Puppy I was wondering about myself just the other day. I asked Krow and he hasn’t heard anything either. I hope he’s okay

if Martin @Citius Altius Fortiusshows up, he may know about Lee and Davey

I still lurk around every once in a while...!

Maybe as we get closed to Paris I'll post more. Going to my 4th games next summer...in between Taylor Swift concerts, of course.

I don't even get a f-ing mention. Good grief. I still hate Brits (and by Brits I mostly mean the English), y'all still suck. Tried to govern a third of the world and now y'all can't even govern yourself. Yes I was completely crushed by Germany's horrid performances in the last few tournaments. The IOC can go f-ck themselves with a cucumber for what they did to Sweden.

I miss puppy. @krow go find him. Do you still talk to your other friend from here that you shared many a long MSN conversations with>

puppy doesn't want to be found, but you can always try saying his name in a mirror three times while listening to danii minogue.

and i don't know who you mean for the second one, hardy or aaron. i haven't texted with hardy in a couple months but we're still friends.

I don't remember an Aaron. Hardy. Hope he is doing well. Nice kid.

Hello guys and gals!

I am enjoying life very much - in this more and more crazy world...

I still watch Eurovision Song Contest and the Olympic Games, but the negative referendum in Hamburg for 2024 was very disappointing for me and antagonised my interest in Olympic Bids a lot. The new "host selection" process is a kind of last coffin nail for my interest in Olympic Bids... In my point of view it is very nibulous!!!

So glad you’re having a good life CAF. And so great to pop in to say hello.

You might also want to pop in come Paris this year - the board does tend to come alive again and recapture its old spirit at games time :D

I will pop in during Paris definitely - I took off from the office for the whole games to watch them live.

Hello Martin! Great to see you back here, are you still in Vienna? I think we're all looking forward to Paris, do you have any insight on whether Rhein Ruhr (or Munich/somewhere else) are progressing for 36?

When I was in London and watched the BBC coverage of the Olympic Games it became clear to me for the first time that an international event isn't really an international event, but one out of a national perspective.

This awareness is reverified during every sport broadcast - the ORF (the Austrian public broadcaster) coverage differs a lot to the coverage by ARD or ZDF (the two German public broadcaster). I can watch both here in Vienna - you are not able to watch ORF in Hamburg (North Germany).

The coverage of Alpine Skiing is much better in ORF than in ARD or ZDF, due Alpine Skiing is "THE mayor sport" in Austria - the coverage of "Summer sports" in ORF is nearly not existing - therefore I will watch Paris on ARD and ZDF.

I'd imagine you can pick up loads of different countries from Vienna - even normal TVs, but hotels are fun for that too. Yeah that's a good point about how the Olympics are broadcast - other than 2012 when they broadcast literally everything through the 28 streams, the BBC coverage is focused on British chances & strengths. Especially last time after the Discovery takeover. I liked watching the handball in 2012, but I don't think they showed any in Rio or Tokyo, because I don't think GB even took part :(

do you mean for general awareness purposes? perhaps the fact that everything is now available online via olympic-approved streams means networks are making more calculated decisions about where to focus their attentions, given that if you want you can watch any obscure match online now.

it depends on whether you see the goal as to get the biggest audience invested in the olympics, or to give the overall audience the broadest exposure to the many olympic disciplines as possible.

Multi-channel streaming has been the big gift for me. Managed to watch the sports climbing in Tokyo rather than have to sit through the 40th replay of Oz’s latest Gold medal for those who missed it the first 39 times.

I'm drunk.

I have been battling cancer.

I lost a nut.

Finally came out to my family a couple years ago.

Yes, I am aware I shouldn't be drunk given current health circumstances. Idgaf currently.

I just started my first open relationship a few months ago.

I wish I was 16 again getting made fun of from @krow with a little more insight. 2004 was a nice year.

Did I mention I am drunk.

Love y'all.

Lesverts.
