Guardian
Well, it is now going to get interesting for Turkey. On May 3, the BIE received an official letter stating that Izmir will be bidding for the 2015 World's Fair. It is the first one to do so. Will this turn of events interfere with the idea of another Turkish bid for the Olympic Games?
thatsnotmypuppy
In a word - no. The Turkish economy could realistically support each event. Also teh Tutkish Olympic Law dictates rain, hail or shine Istanbul will be put forth as a candidate. There apparently has been no addendum or repealling of that law, so Istanbul 2016, 2020, 2024, 2068, 3172, 4504etc will be with us for many a cycle yet. Unless they win.
