The FINAL FOUR has been determined!

The winners of the two conferences will get their tickets to the ultimate NHL prize: the Stanley Cup. Here is the reminder of the teams left for their respective conference trophies:

The PRINCE OF WALES TROPHY match:

Carolina Hurricanes (2) vs. Buffalo Sabres (4)

The CLARENCE S. CAMPBELL BOWL match:

Anaheim Mighty Ducks (6) vs. Edmonton Oilers (8)

It all starts on Friday. Guess it is a "free-for-all" now.

Western Conference Final Game 3 score:

Edmonton: 5 - Anaheim: 4 (Edmonton leads series 3-0)

(Note: It was one wild game. At one point, in the third period, Edmonton had a 4-0 scoring lead against Anaheim! It goes to show you that any team cannot be complacent at all, even with such a scoring scenario as this.)

I'm very surprised by Edmonton's performance. An 8th seeded team looks poised now to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals. It's sorta funny because their province mate Calgary advanced to the Stanley Cup finals the last hockey season beforehand. Here's hoping that the Oilers will be the first Canadian team to win the cup since the 1993 Montreal Canadiens.

Yeah, dave199. I have forgotten about whether Edmonton got into the playoffs in 2004 or not. Anyway, it will be great to see Edmonton in the Stanley Cup finals again after the team's win in 1990.

Western Conference Final Game 4 score:

Anaheim: 6 - Edmonton: 3 (Edmonton leads series 3-1)

Oh, well. It could have been a sweep, but when you had Anaheim score 3 goals in the first period, it may have been trouble for Edmonton to pull it off.

It will be another Canada/US Stanley Cup final!

Game 5 of the Western Conference Final is just over and Edmonton has won 2-1 over the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. This win gives Edmonton the series 4-1 and the ticket to the Stanley Cup final. Will it face the Buffalo Sabres or the Carolina Hurricanes? Only time will tell.

While Edmonton is waiting for the other opponent to step forward, two more Eastern Conference Final games were played. Here's how they went:

Game 5 (Sunday, May 28):

Carolina: 4 - Buffalo: 3 (OT)

Game 6 (Tuesday, May 30):

Buffalo: 2 - Carolina: 1 (OT)

The series is tied 3-3.

Should be a good game 7, winner goes to the Stanley Cup Finals. I'm still betting on the Carolina Hurricanes. They'll have home-ice advantage on their side.

Which ever team from the Eastern Conference wins, it will have the home-ice advantage anyway. Edmonton ranked at the beginning of the playoffs in eighth place.

The moment has come. Tonight, the contest for ice hockey's ultimate prize begins between Carolina and Edmonton. Will Edmonton get Canada the Cup back to Canada, after 13 years and after they got it in 1990? Or will Carolina did what Tampa Bay did the last time: have its first one?

That needs to be grammatically corrected..haha

Anyways, it's a tough call on who wins. Both teams are very talented and on hot streaks. My support will be behind Edmonton.

CTV had that news article about that monkey being used to predict the winner again. Did you know what the wheel it spun revealed? It was Edmonton.

TSN has the monkey that spins the wheel to predict the winner. That monkey seems to be a psychic since 85% of the teams he's selected have gone on to win their series since TSN had started this a few years back.

Take it for what it is but this bodes well for Edmonton :)
