Victorian
On 11/1/2022 at 11:40 AM, AustralianFan said: Carrara Stadium is not an option has it does not have a train line or a light rail line. The mass people movement for the 2018 Gold Coast CW Games was by a fleet of busses which was problematic. The current Gabba Stadium has an underground Cross River Rail train station(under construction) and also the new Brisbane Metro long articulated buses that look like trams but are actually long buses (under construction). The Gabba site is also in a very central scenic Brisbane location and 20 minutes walk across the Brisbane River from the Brisbane CBD via the new Kangaroo Point (under construction). While restricted by space on it’s current site, I cannot see The Gabba demolition and rebuild not going ahead for the new 50,000 legacy stadium. The Queensland State Government have said they are going ahead with the Gabba rebuild and its now just a question of how much the Australian Government contribution will be. Carrara Stadium desperately needs public transport other than buses linked to the stadium.

Yes, the tram goes right past it but the Tram Stop is 450m from Carrara Stadium. For the Olympics/Paralympics, Carrara Stadium is not currently scheduled to be used for any sport, but it may be an option if others sports are added further down the track. ulu
Brisbane Airport Corporation flags third terminal option with air traffic expected to double by 2040 Quote Brisbane Airport Corporation is considering adding a third terminal to keep up with future demand ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Stephen Beckett from the Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) said the airport was running out of space with its two terminals. "We really need that extra capacity to make sure that Queenslanders and people visiting Queensland can get to the destinations they need," he said. "We know that we're going to see the number of people using Brisbane Airport more than double between now and 2040." BAC estimates 50 million passengers a year will travel through its terminals by 2040.

My mistake, there’s no tram line going past Carrara Stadium. Sorry, I misread googlemaps. So its worse than I thought, only a bus stop which is 450 metres(nearly half a kilometre) from the Stadium coming from the direction of Surfers Paradise. No wonder it has not been chosen as an Olympic venue (yet).
ulu
You'd have think if cricket somehow gets introduced for 2032 that Carrara Stadium would be the most likely venue.

Yes Carrara Stadium would likely be in the mix for cricket there. I was just reading there was talk of a spur light rail line past the Stadium a few years back, but nothing has come of it. This map shows how they did it with Games shuttles and local buses at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

AustralianFan
Before, during and after the 2032 Games, ending the private airtrain contract to provide the Brisbane Airport rail service and placing it under government control will be good for residents, tourists and Olympic/Paralympic spectators: “Brisbane’s privately run airport rail service could soon be put in public hands, with the Queensland government and Airtrain in negotiations to bring the 35-year contract to a premature end.” “Should those negotiations be successful, fares on airport train services could be slashed.”
AustralianFan
Another valuable transport infrastructure expansion project completed at Gold Coast International Airport which will make for a better and more streamlined facility for tourists and visitors leading up to and beyond the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games: 10 November 2022: “After lifting the lid on its long-awaited international terminal expansion back in August, Gold Coast Airport is officially welcoming its first overseas travellers through the new facility – complete with glass aerobridges and impressive hinterland views – from today.” “Domestic flyers have been travelling through the terminal since September 8, while additional facilities including border control and an expanded Heinemann duty free store were still receiving the finishing touches.
