Carrara Stadium is not an option has it does not have a train line or a light rail line.  The mass people movement for the 2018 Gold Coast CW Games was by a fleet of busses which was problematic.

The current Gabba Stadium has an underground Cross River Rail train station(under construction) and also the new Brisbane Metro long articulated buses that look like trams but are actually long buses (under construction).

The Gabba site is also in a very central scenic Brisbane location and 20 minutes walk across the Brisbane River from the Brisbane CBD via the new Kangaroo Point (under construction).

While restricted by space on it’s current site, I cannot see The Gabba demolition and rebuild not going ahead for the new 50,000 legacy stadium.

The Queensland State Government have said they are going ahead with the Gabba rebuild and its now just a question of how much the Australian Government contribution will be.

Carrara Stadium desperately needs public transport other than buses linked to the stadium.

Yes, the tram goes right past it but the Tram Stop is 450m from Carrara Stadium.

For the Olympics/Paralympics, Carrara Stadium is not currently scheduled to be used for any sport, but it may be an option if others sports are added further down the track.

Brisbane Airport Corporation flags third terminal option with air traffic expected to double by 2040

Quote

Brisbane Airport Corporation is considering adding a third terminal to keep up with future demand ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Stephen Beckett from the Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) said the airport was running out of space with its two terminals.

"We really need that extra capacity to make sure that Queenslanders and people visiting Queensland can get to the destinations they need," he said.

"We know that we're going to see the number of people using Brisbane Airport more than double between now and 2040."

BAC estimates 50 million passengers a year will travel through its terminals by 2040.

450m is very close...no?

My mistake, there’s no tram line going past Carrara Stadium. Sorry, I  misread googlemaps.

So its worse than I thought, only a bus stop which is 450 metres(nearly half a kilometre) from the Stadium coming from the direction of Surfers Paradise.

No wonder it has not been chosen as an Olympic venue (yet).

You'd have think if cricket somehow gets introduced for 2032 that Carrara Stadium would be the most likely venue.

Yes Carrara Stadium would likely be in the mix for cricket there. I was just reading there was talk of a spur light rail line past the Stadium a few years back, but nothing has come of it.

This map shows how they did it with Games shuttles and local buses at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Ipswich Stadium which will be hosting Modern Pentathlon at the 2032 Olympics is almost complete. It will host it's first event next Sunday for the AFLW Grand Final between the Brisbane Lions and Melbourne Demons. The turf was layed recently however it has been all ticked off and ready to go for Sundays game which is expected to sell out.

Another report from ITG on the Brisbane Airport expansion plans ahead of the Games

“The third terminal, planned to be located to the north of the current domestic terminal, would deal with both domestic and international passenger traffic.”

“Airport bosses are aiming to have the new terminal in place before the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, but the main objective is to cater for projected growth after that time.

Before, during and after the 2032 Games, ending the private airtrain contract to provide the Brisbane Airport rail service and placing it under government control will be good for residents, tourists and Olympic/Paralympic spectators:

“Brisbane’s privately run airport rail service could soon be put in public hands, with the Queensland government and Airtrain in negotiations to bring the 35-year contract to a premature end.”

“Should those negotiations be successful, fares on airport train services could be slashed.”

Another valuable transport infrastructure expansion project completed at Gold Coast International Airport which will make for a better and more streamlined facility for tourists and visitors leading up to and beyond the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games:

10 November 2022:

“After lifting the lid on its long-awaited international terminal expansion back in August, Gold Coast Airport is officially welcoming its first overseas travellers through the new facility – complete with glass aerobridges and impressive hinterland views – from today.”

“Domestic flyers have been travelling through the terminal since September 8, while additional facilities including border control and an expanded Heinemann duty free store were still receiving the finishing touches. They’re now complete.”

“Queensland-based cybersecurity experts say the 2032 Olympic Games will be at heightened risk of cyber-attacks and should serve as a focus for fortifying the state from hackers.”

“When major events come it brings scrutiny – Japan for example was the number one most targeted country in the Asia Pacific region, and there are implications that may have been due to the global focus that the recent summer Olympics brought there,” he said.”

“There are occasions that happen from time to time, where you get global attention, and it does bring unwanted attention, and with the 2032 Olympics, that’s something I’m sure the government will be thinking about.”

Study to investigate taking Brisbane Metro east to Capalaba

“The Eastern Metro Study will investigate options for extending the existing busway from where it currently ends at Coorparoo through to the Capalaba business district.”

“The study will consider the option of using the fully-electric Brisbane Metro fleet, providing Redlands and eastern suburbs residents with an emissions-free travel option to Brisbane CBD.”

“Redland City Mayor Karen Williams said delivering an Eastern Metro route was critical for the Redlands and should be a priority ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games given the potential for it to also service the canoe slalom venue at Birkdale.”

”Envision robots for cleaning and construction, satmaps, swipe cards and QR codes. Data technology will be embedded in 32 existing and planned Olympic venues, the future athletes’ village at Northshore Hamilton (near Breakfast Creek) and the international media centres.”
