The more I think about it though, if UEFA and CONMEBOL want to break away from FIFA then backing out of future bidding until Infantino junks the biennial WC makes perfect sense. FIFA would collapse without those two federations. Quote
Rob2012 Posted February 14, 2022 Author Report Posted February 14, 2022 But they're not backing out. UEFA will be supporting the Iberian bid for 2030. And as far as we know South America are still aiming to land the centenary tournament. Quote
Scotguy II Posted February 15, 2022 Report Posted February 15, 2022 bring back Samaranch and Blatter lol, what i would give to go back to the tournaments and games under their leadership... Quote
StefanMUC Posted February 15, 2022 Report Posted February 15, 2022 Nope. They laid the seeds for what we are seeing now. Quote

On the contrary..... the people in charge today are running things based on the reforms and changes that were brought in when the the likes of Samaranch and Blatter were pushed from office. IOC bowing to Russia and China, FIFA bowing to the middle east - apart from the awarding of beijing 2008 in 2001 (China's ultimate path not entirely known back then) we had games and tournaments in decent places. Bear Posted March 31, 2022 Report Posted March 31, 2022 https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1121280/infantino-distances-biennial-world-cup Quote Infantino distances FIFA from proposed biennial World Cups FIFA President Gianni Infantino has distanced himself from a proposal to double the number of men's and women's World Cups in football, claiming at the 72nd FIFA Congress that the International Federation "has not proposed a biennial World Cup". Speaking during his address at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre in 2022 FIFA World Cup host Qatar, the Swiss-Italian official instead suggested that FIFA had merely "studied the feasibility". SportLightning Posted March 31, 2022 Report Posted March 31, 2022 That means the biannual FIFA World Cup is not gonna happen. Quote
