(TV production which, by the way, was the only thing that was not chosen by the COJO but imposed by OBS... from a general point of view I find that it is really a bad Olympics for OBS and that they must change 2-3 things for the next editions) Quote
yoshi Posted August 1 Report Posted August 1 Sounds like a lot was cut/missed but not from the sections that I was expecting - the fashion show was actually supposed to be that long & have that many boats pass (I was kinda expecting to find that a new performance was planned after about 30-40 boats of that to split it up but got cut), I didn't see any mention of whether we were meant to see anything filling that lingering shot of the sky at the end of La Marseillaise, and that the final torch section wasn't supposed to have anything extra like a drone show or even some special method of delivery that couldn't be done in the rain. But yeah it's clear several of the sections only happened in truncated form due to the weather or weren't shown properly. The ceremony team in future Olympics should definitely get a lot more sway over how the show is filmed for TV. And where were the waiters? I thought they'd be in the guide. Quote

The important notes are separate from the play by play and relegated into the appendix. The thing is designed for aesthetics and not for commentators. This is how the missed most if not all the important people Quote

baron-pierreIV Posted August 2 Report Posted August 2 (edited) Aside from leaving out Napoleon and the TROIS musketeers, here's another famous French family Jolly left out of the Opening Ceremony! After all, they are from Remulac, FRANCE!! They should've included them in the Minions section!!! Not too late to include all 3 (Emperor Napolean, the 3 Musketeers and the Coneheds in the Closing!!) I would love to see how a hard copy of the media guide was delivered to the commentators. Was it in a book with the ceremony structure and segments in a concertina fold? Was the media guide even given to the commentators given that ceremonies were held in secret and the amateurish Australian commentary? That's what I would like to know. Quote

I don't know about other countries but given the poor commentary from Australia as if they weren't following the media guide, the secret rehearsals, and the controversy that came out of the Opening Ceremony, I question whether they were given one on the night and whether it was released afterwards for the press. sebastien1214 Posted August 9 Report Posted August 9 3 minutes ago, Sir Rols said: I reckon they should have more followed Anne Hidalgo’s advice: Olympic closing ceremony revised ‘umpteen’ times after opening event furore The article is a bit misleading. I'm giving you the translation of Thierry Reboul's response to the original interview he gave to Le Parisien (before being picked up by the international media): Quote Q : Did these threats and criticisms hold you back for the closing ceremony? A : No, but they force us to have to reread the entire show for the umpteenth time to be sure that there is no possible misinterpretation, that we are not made to say what we do not want to say. He doesn't say they changed it. He just says they reread it to make sure there was no misinterpretation; and it turns out, maybe they didn't even find anything like that. Quote

sebastien1214 Posted August 12 Report Posted August 12 I don't understand, Guilherme had told us that the IOC was so ashamed that it had censored the replay, or something like that. Quote

Or maybe, especially, in fact, that the national broadcasters had exclusivity on the replay until today? You seem to forget the most obvious. (I am also surprised that it is published today on the IOC channel, I thought that the exclusivity lasted several months) Quote
mr.bernham Posted August 12 Report Posted August 12 It's not available in the United States. Technically the NBC replays are available on Peacock for another month. Would be interesting to see if the OC/CC become available in the US after that date. Quote

Oh that's funny, it's available in France while France Télévisions still also offers the ceremony in replay on their website. NBC must certainly have... ahem... some advantages. Quote
