Ikarus360
Of all highlight moments of London 2012 why they had to go with Paul McCartney. Everyone knows the highlight was the iron Olympic rings. The choice of images for the rest are also as bad safe for 2000 and 2016.

BigVic
The Opening will be on the River Siene while the Closing will be at the Stade De France. Eiffel Tower would be a better setting for the Closing Ceremony as it's the most recgonisable landmark in France

Bear
I asked ChatGPT to come up with a creative concept for the Paris 2024 Olympic Opening and this is what it came up with: Quote The Paris 2024 Olympic Games opening ceremony will be a celebration of the city's rich cultural heritage and the spirit of international cooperation that the Olympic Games represent. The concept for the ceremony will be centered around the Seine, the iconic river that flows through the heart of Paris. The opening ceremony will begin with a grand procession of athletes from around the world, marching across a bridge spanning the Seine. As they cross the bridge, they will be greeted by a massive floating sculpture of the Olympic rings, suspended above the water. As the athletes make their way into the stadium, the Seine will come alive with a stunning light and sound show. Thousands of floating lanterns will be released into the river, creating a shimmering sea of color that reflects the diversity of the Olympic community. As the lanterns drift downstream, they will be accompanied by a musical performance featuring some of France's most iconic musicians. From Edith Piaf to Daft Punk, the performance will showcase the best of French music and culture, while celebrating the global spirit of the Olympic Games. Finally, the ceremony will culminate with a breathtaking fireworks display, illuminating the night sky above the Seine. The fireworks will be choreographed to a stirring orchestral soundtrack, evoking the sense of triumph and joy that comes with the Olympic Games. Overall, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games opening ceremony will be a celebration of the power of sport to bring people together, set against the backdrop of one of the world's most beautiful cities. Paralympic Games Opening Quote The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games opening ceremony will be a celebration of the resilience, determination, and strength of the Paralympic athletes, set against the backdrop of the historic Place de la Concorde. The opening ceremony will begin with a procession of Paralympic athletes, led by flagbearers representing their countries, as they make their way to the Place de la Concorde. As they enter the square, they will be greeted by a series of installations and sculptures inspired by the Paralympic values of determination, courage, equality, and inspiration. As the athletes take their places, the ceremony will shift into a high-energy musical performance, featuring a diverse array of performers from the worlds of pop, rock, and hip-hop. The music will celebrate the power of human diversity, and the importance of inclusion and acceptance in creating a better world. As the music fades, the focus will shift to a series of theatrical performances, inspired by the stories of Paralympic athletes and the challenges they have overcome. From adaptive sports to innovative technology, these performances will showcase the incredible achievements of the Paralympic movement and its impact on global society. Finally, the ceremony will culminate with a spectacular fireworks display, illuminating the night sky above the Place de la Concorde. The fireworks will be choreographed to a stirring orchestral soundtrack, evoking the sense of triumph and joy that comes with the Paralympic Games. Overall, the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games opening ceremony will be a celebration of the power of human diversity and the strength of the human spirit. It will honor the Paralympic athletes and their achievements, and inspire people around the world to embrace inclusion and acceptance as the keys to a better future. @Sir Rols here you go 1
fusilli
^^ Of course they'll use some sort of floating lightings over the river. Any decent scenographer would include that in a water-themed ceremony.

Getting the athletes on barges to the Trockadero will take place during daylight . . . when it's also easier for Security to oversee the mise en scene. It's when they are returned to the OV -- if not by surface street buses -- then they will want to get them back to the OV on the same barges but ASAP -- and they have to be mindful of the private residences/apartments that line the Seine. Even the bateaux mouches with their BLINDING spotlights, only operate up to a certain time --out of respect for the citizens who live along the river. They only run these things w. blazing spotlights up to 8:00 or 9:00 pm. Edited March 10, 2023 by baron-pierreIV
fusilli
^^Wasn't referring to a specific portion of the ceremony. But assuming that part (the most?) of the ceremony will take place around sunset and onward throughout night, yes, definetely lighting shows (hope the smooth ones, not just flashy leds) are de rigueur! Btw, residents along the Seine in city center? It's almost all rappresentive palaces there.

I'd say they'd get started with the Fluvial parade at 1700. Get all the athletes to Troc by 1800 - official start of the OC @ Troc. Darkness comes around 2200pm -- so that's when the Lighting the cauldron could start. It's a 6.2km route from the St. Denis OV to Troc, I believe. Remember, they are already hard-pressed in finding personnel for Security, even going so far as to recruit from other Francophile countries -- so you can't keep adding all these ambitious schemes w/o consideration for the Security component. I'm not even talking VIP security as I am sure Macron will want to have as many Heads of State attend as is logistically possible, Getting all those chess pieces to move safely in the narrow confines of the Troc area will be quite challenging.
