baron-pierreIV
I think a Barcelona 2030 Winter Games is not going to happen. They are barely out of the starting gate, and all the different parties are all fighting each other already. Barcelona Mayor demands public consultation over bid for 2030 Winter Olympics (insidethegames.biz) The set-up between the Spanish Olympic Committee, the Catalonians and the very poorly developed ski resorts of the Pyrenees, Jaca and Zaragosa, is so tenuous and fraught with so much rivalries, they will not get on the same page. The IOC better talk to Krakow, Stockholm or the home city of Lausanne again if they want a Euro Winter Games and not western North America have 2 consecutive Winter Games. stryker
This has referendum written all over it. I expect the IOC to steer clear of this one.

They could even talk to Munich, Salzburg or Oslo, though I guess the IOC doesn’t want to get doors slammed into their faces. Scorched earth everywhere. iceman530
Let it die so they can focus all in on Madrid
WD96
They should focus on Bilbao instead.

WD96
In all seriousness, the San Mamés stadium could host the ceremonies.
stryker
https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1112754/catalonia-independent-by-2030-games More wishful thinking. I am speculating that this statement was made because there really isn't full support from the powers to be on Madrid or the spat with Aragon
iceman530
This thing is dad man walking. They should just stop it before spending any more money and focus on Madrid 2036

iceman530
Was just at Barcelona last year and went up to the mountains. The situation was..........not good in terms of snow. I think this ship has sailed.
leoa69
Barcelona 2030 Olympics appearing increasingly unlikely due to economic and logistical challenges, leaving doubts about the city's ability to host the event. The dream may need to be deferred or reconsidered.
