the graphics look really good. Same typeface used in Tokyo but different coloured background. I love the use of mountains within the graphics.

The new OBS typography is horrendous. I miss the previous one. In fact I miss when they had their own broadcasting services and more freedom for logos.

Would be awfully awful if foreign athletes competing against Chinese athletes became unwell or were ambiguously advised to test/isolate.....

This is a big big concern I have. Will they be altering test results to hinder athletes from competing against them? There needs to be a neutral eye keeping watch over this stuff.

The intro is going to be different for the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Since Rio 2016 the intros have been animated....  2022 is not the exception.

Similar to Tokyo.. the music is catchy.... as Rio and Tokyo were.

I miss the 2000 and 2004 graphics. They were great

Glad I‘m not watching…

Germany‘s flag will be carried (as decided by online poll) by Francesco Friedrich (big fave in bobsleigh, that‘s fine as choice) and Claudia Pechstein, our record Olympian in basically every category, including fighting in dubious doping trials and being married to a bully husband now happening to be German speed skating president. Absolutely horrendous choice.

Which means we will see more of that four-hands-to-hold-one-stick nonsense at this parade. Like that wasn't embarrassing enough in Tokyo.

Don't they usually do a poll of some sort? I'm surprised she still has so much backing by the public.

Oh dear - what is it about sports governance in Germany, between that, Bach himself, the couple of controversies in Tokyo, even going way back to the allegations around Beckenbauer and the 06 World Cup awarding - and the Ozil controversy later? From afar from what you read here, there seems to be a lot of problems with German sport admin...is there any particular reason? I know it won't be all or even most sport, and that we've had our share of bad apples, but it's so odd coming from a country that's rightly looked up to as a model of governance in most other ways

It‘s a disaster. DOSB at least just got a completely new leadership, but DFB power struggles are worse than Alexis vs Krystle in Dynasty.

We‘re going a bit off topic in this thread now, but basically since the 70s, Adidas boss Horst Dassler built a big network of sports officials doing his bidding. Bach was a lawyer at Adidas (after Fencing 1976), Samaranch, Blatter etc. Of course this continued into lower levels and the next generations.
